Voice work volunteer

I'm useless when it comes to coding or art, but I've got a good voice.  I sang professionally with Palm Beach School of the Arts for four years and won myself several awards.  I also served in the military and I've done a *little* voice work in the past for some things online, mostly for friends.

 

I only post this because I feel that the voices in Sins are a little weak, and I wouldn't sound like the janitor being pulled into a sound booth you know?  And if anyone needs a man's voice behind some of those ships or even to narrate your opening movie, let me know.  I'd love to do it.  And you can toy with my voice all you like, I really don't care.

interesting :D

This is late for me so im abit lazy on the writing :p but im interested in hearing your voice :) could you send me a sample of something? the sound quality doesnt really matter, more of how you say it.

Could you try and record few lines related to sins and send it to multianna at gmail dot com ?

oh and im the admin of www.sins.bz where the final sounds will be stored if we can make something useful hehe.

Do you want the voices more formal? something tells me if I just recieved orders from an omnipotent overseerer I might just say 'sir.' Or at least be formal.

Try something you're comfortable with.

For starters though could we get some lines from the current game? A few....

"Attacking an empire has become more profitable."

"What can I do for you?"

"Good Day Commander" (strong confident voice)

"Our capital ship shields are down!" (angered/concerned voice)

"Comm link active"

"Secure the passengers! "

"If it's out there, I'll find it"

I just spent the morning recording my voice. It's so hard NOT to hate your voice! Think I'm going to drink some OJ and try again in a bit. Any good idea where to host these sound bytes?

What should the Vasari sound like to you? Any good examples I should shoot for?

Also, whatever can be do post recording might help. Someone made me sound totally different in a vid he did for Wow.

I know exactly what you mean. I did a few lines once for a map/mission I made for ArmA. And I hated every time I played through it and heard my voice. It just sounds so false and put on, especially when you try and say it with character and enthusiasm. Good luck with it all anyway. ;)

Multianna, you've got a wicked nice site. And Uzii I adore your mod. I'll be uploading the voice bits to www.sins.biz as soon as I figure it out. Anything I can do to help you guys let me know. I'm also a solid writer, but we probably all are. But my voice is at everyone's disposal.

I had wondered when someone would actually suggest doing their own voice acting... sounds interesting and seems kinda like Uzi's mod, as in something that you might use as a secondary part of a mod or just as a side thing.

Hey id love to help out.

Im a low range baratone, and although I havent done any voice work, iv been told to get into it for most of my adult life.

I'll try to come up with some spare time and make some samples as well.

lol I actually never play Vasari or Advent because I cant stand the voices, even a few of the TEC voices are terrible... but Vasari are the worst IMO..

I'd love to see a mod that replaces the voices, maybe with voices from some space movie or something??

Try a few Belguim beers to loosen ur throat a bit and build that vocal confidence.

x2 330ml bottles of Leffe Tripel, if you go for more than 2 make damn sure you eat a square meal in between otherwise we won't hear the words amoungst the slurred speach ;-)

Okay, I have learned fast that I hate my voice. I have a military demeanor but that also means most things that people would scream about I kind of don't.

So I uploaded some samples, including me reading out of Gates of Fire in case anyone has long narration or something of that nature. It's all here at www.sins.bz

I just heard the sounds from you sleepylazy and i must say i love it :D

My first thought was, haha awesome reminded me of starcraft or some other game i cant remember.
Second thought was, why isnt he doing this for a living?

I understand what you mean about hating your voice as i feel the same. Since im Danish my english "at times" sounds akward and stupid. Atleast thats what i think :p
The only good voice i can do is Donald Duck :HOT:

Tomorrow ill try and fool around with the sound samples and see what i can put together :)

Those are bloody amazing! I didn't want to doubt your abilities, but I wasn't expecting stuff that awesome! They would fit better in the game than the current ones in my opinion. If ever I need some voices done for S+ (can't think of many, but I'm sure I'll come across something that needs it), I will definitely contact you first, if you are 'free to hire'. Keep it up, and I hope the devs hear these. Excellent work :CONGRAT:

If anyone needs a base voice for vasari...i might be able to help, but it might be hard for me to get it up. If anyone gave me an example of how they think it should sound (vasari have a distinct way of saying things is an example)then i might be able to get something done. note its not very likely ill get around to it, but i might ;p

maybe vasari are lizard like.. so lots of elongated ssss zzz and perhaps elongating
the end on a word when no lizard S or Z are pesent in the phrase said
ex.1 theirs (therzzzzz) no time to lose (loozzzzze)
ex.2 yes (yessssss)
ex.3 powering (poweriiiiiiing) jump drive

that how they would sound better to me ..

If you've played X3: Reunion, or possibly the previous ones (not sure, I haven't played them), then that would just be like the Teladi. It would be a good place to listen to a few examples.

Hey there again!

Im at work on the Vassi ones.

I did a few TEC voices, and thought that it wasnt nearly as good as SleepyLazys, or just good in general, since my voice isnt very commanding.

But I am very good at making "evil" voices, so ill try to work on a few more Vassi, in some varying pitch tones with my wav program. I'll get some uploaded soon hopefully!
