Overlapping gravity wells?

Holy shit!

Ok. So I am playing a custom map right now. There is an asteroid and a planet. The asteroid is so close to the planet that I can see their gravity wells overlap ALOT. Yet still the ships have to use the phase lane and it is pretty funny to watch. You give them an order to move and they move closer to the astroid then start jumping out and they jump away from the asteroid to get to the edge of it's gravity well. I found this out early on and being the ocd me I am gonna start a new game.

As you can see, each gravity well functions as its own independent map, connected by phase lanes. I don't think there's currently any way to have a single chunk of gravity with more than one planet in it.

Have you tilted the axis of the map? Sometimes objects appear to be overlapping but instead are actually on different planes, thus phase lanes are required (and everything is functioning as is!)

I've had one planet directly above annother. The gravity wells appeared to overlap totally. A phase lane went from one side of the top planet to the other side of the bottom planet.

ok, here's a really weird one. Best I can tell its just an asteroid field on top. However, note the phase lanes in the second image, they do not connect, you have to go back where you came from.

Yea. One was alittle bit above the other. I wasnt complaining or anything, I just found it very odd and funny. The game has lots of weird interesting stuff like that.
