For those with minidumps

Hi,

I would suggest those with minidump to remove all overclock of your system.

This game is sensitive to this.

Also, they said 1.4 savegames are compatible with 1.5, it not 100% true. Im minidumping when loading a 1.4 save game. (minidump while im loading).

Else I dont have any minidump while playing 1.5. (im not overcloked)

Also keep in note that some MODS are causing minidump so if you have one that is activated, that could be the problem.

Edit: Please keep in mind that this may not be the cause of your minidumps and there may be more bug associated with the game itself.

send in your minidump?
You know, minidumps arent the acutal problem, they're a file that documents your crash. So it could be either code side problem or your side problem, and without sending it in it'll never be fixed if the problem is on your side.

Now I know how they felt in 28 days later when they found the "answer to infection". I've modded the game quite a bit, and late game it minidumps. On vanilla, late game it minidumps. It's a slow process that you start to notice as seconds take longer and longer. At some point it says,"no more" and minidumps. It's not my system, or I'd have this problem with more graphically intense games, but I don't. I like this game, I really do, but I've only completed it twice now against multiple hard ais, and a late game minidump is very irritating. Ok, I think I'm done ranting and raving. If anyone has a fix, or a simple,"we're playtesting to try and duplicate the problem" from SD, I know I'd appreciate it. For those of you who are seeking the answer to minidumps, as of this post, it's not here.

xxpsyrixx,

I noticed my computer lagging and having serious issues late game, a while back. It happened primarily on large games (~10 players or as the fleet size research got higher up). It turned out that between SoaSE, Windows, and my other processes, I was requesting more RAM from the computer than it physically had (2 Gigs on XP) and Windows was making it's fake RAM by doing the quick-write-to-the-HHD thing that it does. Not surprisingly, this process is much too slow for a game. I solved the problem by spending $25 to get some more RAM, and have not had this problem since.

It may not be your problem, but I thought it might be worth a look. Good luck.

Thanks, JSW. I thought 2 gigs was plenty, so I guess I'll be spending some money...
