Player colour bug?

Just dl'd beta.

Started new game - each time so far i start game. My colour is green.

Changed again at player setup. - same result with new game started.

Also enemy empire colours are all red.

Did you uncheck "team colors" in the interface settings?

Yes, that is just the team colors option, however there seems to be a bug with player colors: each ship and structure (me, ally, and enemy) is grey, they don't have player colored parts.

Blair, I think they forgot to enable "Show mesh team colors" in Effects. It is off by default, but enabling it allows me to see my player color on my ships.

It should probably start off as ON by default, though

Show mesh team colors is on here. I setup a game with my team being red and Vasari green. Once game loads up, in the piracy menu, Vasari has kept the icon I assigned them but have stolen my color. I've kept the icon I picked, but given the green I assigned to Vasari.

This is strange. I tried with several colors, and mine works fine.

I just tried what you did. I properly started as Red, and the other AI Green. If I toggle "Use Team Colors" in Interface options, then I become green and the AI becomes red. If I toggle it off, the colors are proper.

So, it seems to behave like it's supposed to.

Started a new game and picked entirely new colors this time to see what would happen. Player 1 TEC Blue - Player 2 Vasari Yellow.

Game loads up, I'm light green and enemy is red again. All effect options are checked on. The piracy main screen reflects this. The new mini-window in the top right shows the correctly colored icons.

EDIT: *sigh* Didn't notice 'Use Team Colors' was checked on in User Interface. Still, unless I'm misunderstanding the wording here, shouldn't having that on use the colors you picked and shutting it off go to some default colors? Seems reversed currently if that's what it's meant to do.

But yes, disabling Team Colors puts the ships and structures back into the correctly player-chosen ones.

Just happened to me, too, and going looking for "Use Team Colors" wasn't the first thing I went looking for because, y'know, that's always turned off, right? I'm pretty sure this is an unexpected change to a default behaviour and probably ought to not be on by default ... or better, be moved into the Game Options panel rather than the UI Options (or both, even).

You would think so, but no. Sins uses "default" team colors, so everyone on a particular team would get the color assigned to that team.

Toggling it off is what allows the game to use the colors you picked for yourself/AI.

Yes, that revelation came to me soon after I got off the computer. Still, it might be a good thing to make the default options use player selected colors to avoid confusion like this in the future.

Yeah, unchecked team colors give you your colors.(should'nt it be the other way)

Checking the "Show mesh team colors" in Effects menu restored the player colors on ships and buildings, seems like the default options have been changed in this patch. In conclusion, there is no bug.

Yeah, it works fine, just a whole lot of confusion because the defaults were changed
