Blurry text in fullscreen, sharp text in windowed mode

This is odd... I have a 1440x900 resolution monitor. At first I had trouble getting it to change resolutions - it would say it was at 1440x900, but it was really a stretched, hideous-looking 1024x768. I had to manually change the resulution in the user.setting file to get it to really work.

But now the text (in the menus, for instance) is blurry when it's in full screen mode. The words almost run together. When I switch it to windowed mode the text is sharp - not blurry or running together at all.

Anybody have any idea why this would be the case?

Make sure your video card driver is up to date through the manufacturer's website.

Also, are you using generic monitor drivers?

I'm using plug and play drivers. The monitor is a Gateway LE1936. It doesn't seem to have any drivers to download - plug and play are the ones it's supposed to use.

The video card is a Geforce 9600 GT. I'm making sure its drivers are up to date right now.

The problem persists. It does not effect gameplay, and the text is still readable, but it is annoying.

Strange. If you take screenshots and compare them side by side, can you see the difference? Or is it only visible in the game itself?

That's very odd. The screenshot of the fuzzy screen is not itself fuzzy.

So somehow it's my monitor.

And it only seems to be doing it to that particular font. The v1.09 in the corner is crystal clear.

I wonder what could be causing it. It's still displayed perfectly in windowed mode.

I'd like to officially apologize for being really, really stupid.

It was all my fault.

Go to your SoaSA video settings screen. You there? Right. Now see that little slider that says "Full Screen Gamma?" Pull it up about 25%.

Watch your text get all fuzzy, just like mine was.

And apparently it doesn't factor in the gamma when processing screenshots.

Now the question of course is whether turning up gamma should make the text unreadable or whether it should be considered a bug :)
