Planet Undevelopment Credit Losses

[n00b question]

I have just started playing SoaSE against the AI, and I'm finding on the economy graph that I'm losing a lot of credits due to planetary underdevelopment.  How do I correct this?

As soon as you capture a planet click on it, and (if you have the resources available) click the "Develop Planet" icon and then the "Civilian Infrastructure" button (most larger planets have multiple stages available).

The quicker you upgrade your planets "civilian infrastructure" the less credits you'll lose to "planet under-development".

thanks,

It's generally a good idea to not colonize unless you can upgrade it immediately.

Thanks all. I've stopped grabbing all the planets I can get in early game and have concentrated on asteroids (which I upgrade the moment I get them). Works like a charm. :CONGRAT:

upgrading the planets infrastructure does the trick

trade ports help increase income empire overall

terran/earth worlds are the best because taxes increase due to population growth and the earth planets atre the only planets that can sustain huge amounts on birth rates.

How many times must you upgrade the infrastructure for it to stop taxing you, and for the planet to start bringing in money?

Depends on the planet type. But usually 2 upgrades will put you to no panelty. Just check the screen for each upgrade and it will show you what it does.
