Stardock will be closed for Easter weekend starting on Friday, April 3rd and we will be returning on Tuesday, April 7th. We will be monitoring support tickets and forums during this time, but expect delays in responses during this time.
I go into some asteroid fields and there are metal and crystal asteriods there to be had. I cannot figure out how to take over the extractors that are already on the asteroid that says it may be captured.

with the same vessel you use to capture planets.
In the right bottom bar there is an action "capture planet" and the other one for asteroids
with a colony ship you can and i usually move the ship to the astroid and let it auto do the work. but not with a capital ship
