My Homeworld Mod

This is my first attempt at a conversion and I am still learning. I have the Kushan(TEC) and Taiidan(Vasari) playable. I have played the Kushan on a huge FFA map to the end. I didn't add the motherships because I can't decide what role they would play other than a huge carrier. I made the Homeworld corvettes as frigates, HW frigates as cruisers, and well, Cap ships are Cap ships. I made the cloak generator as a planetmodule. which will cloak your modules and ships in an area of effect, but not planets. The gravwell generator is mobile, blocking phase jumping in an area for a little longer time than the phase block module. to keep the enemy from fleeing. Added a few derlicts to fill out the ship slots and made a missile corvette for the Taiidan. I will add the Kadesh next in the Advent slot and eventually the Turanic Raiders as pirates (and make them playjable). Thanks to Sierra, Relic and anyone associated with this great game, Homeworld.

The new one seems to work. I haven't had a crash yet...

EDIT: First bugs I've found: 1. If you have quickstart enabled, you don't start with a mothership. 2. All the ships are your team color (although you probably know that one already)

I LOVE it!! I haven't gotten any crashes or minidumps with the Entrechment version, great job!:thumbsup:

Love the Taiidan Mothership! But were missing the Kushan Mothership!!!

Although concerning the capital ships: It seems like you just replaced the models of the Sins ships with the Homeworld ones. I love the models, they bring back so many memories, but combat wise it just doesnt do them justice... the regular destroyers are more powerful than (at least health wise) than the heavy cruisers. The capital ships just seem like place holders for now.

If you could somehow change the abilities of the capital ships to better match those of Homeworld, it would be great.

Some of the weapons effects (ie: the beams for the heavy cruisers, at least the Taiidan one) seem kinda flimsy and weak.

 Also the descriptions for some of ships (mainly the capital ships) ingame dont really match. If your already working on these things I'll just be quiet and wait patiently. 

I like what you've done with the attack movements of some of the corvettes (ie the light frigate), making it move like a fighter and what not really adds to the overall feel of the game. By any chance is it possible to do this with some of the other corvette ships?

hmm, after reading Kyogre12's edit, I went back and tried all 3 factions with quick start and without it. Without it, all 3 factions start with a mothership (So pretty!). With quick start enabled, only the Taiidan start with a mothership.

Great mod! I'm looking forward to what this will become.

Also a cool effect would be to make the hyperspace window your phase space planet jumper thing (I can't recall the name of it at the moment).

:)  Just finished class tonight!!!  Finals over and saturday we are off to the west coast for two weeks!!  But i saw this and wanted to download it, i'll give it a try, though im only taking the laptop, but still... wonderful to have you back wraith and a new version!!  :)

Finally glad it works now. Here are some thoughts on some of the above replys.

kyogre12: I forgot to add the Kushan and Kadesh ships to quick start. My bad. You can turn off team colors in the effects option. also turn off ship mesh highlight if so desired.

QuecoJones: I just couldn't decide what abilities to use so I didn't mess with them, besides you have to realise HW and Sins are two different games (Kushan didn't go around conquering planets) so this isn't going to be canon HW anyway. And HW cap ships didn't have much in the way of abilities. Any ideas are welcome. I haven't figured out how to use particle forge so I just used the regular sins effects for the weapons. I would also like to learn to make new exhaust effects for the Kushan. If somebody could do that or if there is a tutorial somewhere let me know I would be very grateful. You can also change the line useFighterAttack from FALSE to TRUE (use Cap letters) to any entity file to attack like fighter (even Cap ships). It's near the top of the file.

CrazySmurf: I would like to learn make a hyperspace window as well.
