Widescreen Bug in Sins 1.1 Beta 2

I had a 4:3 LCD monitor and played Sins on it at a regular resolution.  This monitor died so I got a widescreen monitor.  I launched Sins 1.1 beta 2 and went to change the resolution but I only got this:

 

 

So I read online how to change it by specifying the resolution the configuration file.  This seems to work but the correct resolution still isn't showing up in Sins.  I think it's running at the correct resolution but not showing it as the selected option.

could you post the specs of your new display?

also, if you tick that "use windows mode" box you nagate the issue as the resolution of your desktop will be used. also means you can do other things while your waiting for you fleet to cross the galaxy

Did you install the drivers for your Monitor?  Did windows display right?  Did you set Windows to display at the right resolution?  This isn't a SoaSE problem.

Did you install a driver for your new monitor as well? If windows sees it as the default Plug and Play monitor, it won't report the supported resolutions to the game properly.

Edit: opening all the threads at once and going through them one by one ftl.

Hi, I have the same problem. I just connected my new LG flatron L227WT - it's recognized as that model by windows - but I'm not ably to choose a wide screen resolution.

 

System:

AMD X2 5000+

GForce 7600GT with latest driver

LG flatron L227WT connected via DVI-D cable + latest driver

Windows XP Home

Go to your user path (where the mods get put) and in the Setting folder open user.setting with Notepad or something, then you'll be able to manually set the resolution to one you like. Only way to do it for tvs that I know of.

I just installed the drivers for the monitor and it is now not listed as Plug n Play.  However, Sins still doesn't show the correct resolution in the list.

 

BTW - It's a Samsung T240HD LCD widescreen.

 

I just checked and it is running at the correct resolution so I guess it works I just was curious as to why it's not showing up as an option in the menu.

I configured the resolution via .ini as well, but that can't be the solution. btw: I'm not using the beta, so it's not a new problem but an unsolved one. furthermore every resolution appears twice in my list.

 

PS: no mods installed

Its related to your driver. Sins queries it for the list of available resolutions. If the driver doesn't give it the correct values, they won't show up. However, the Sins graphic engine can handle pretty much any resolution your hardware can, regardless of what your driver tells it, so if you configure the settings file manually you can get around the driver's faults.

i had the same problem. but i solved... But iam not sure how i have done this. I think i switched to windwo mode and back. O i deleted the config from Sins of a solarempire.. Sry, i only can say that u can solve tat issue, but i dont know how ive done this...
