So crazy it just might work

Can anyone think of any strategies (come on everyone say it) are so crazy it just might work. I've seen games won with stupid strategies that just plain confuse you. The only reason these would win is because it takes people by suprise in such a way that you don't see it coming. This game makes it hard to do sneak attacks but what about purposly enticing an enemy to take your home planet just for them to find out that you jsut took 4 of thiers because they didn't have any defenses. Anyone wana suggest anything. If not it was worth a try.

well, you might be able to trick some one into flipping out.  have four-five light frigates at once came at a planet from multiple phase lanes, and have your fleet attack elsewhere.  your opponet should see the alert on the screen, but it would show the diversion planet, not the true target planet.  only if he/she went into the report menu would they see it.  might work, might not.  also, will not work with scouts!  they do not ring the audible alarm.

another idea is a simple scout rush.  this is precisely because they don't ring the alarm when sensed incoming, and would be able to move close to the enemy's planet with near impunity, drop some charges, and leave without firing a single gun (then the "our planet is under attack" alarm would sound.  don't know if it sounds for abilities, tho

pl< don't advocate this tac, it's lame and can only be used once anyway. After that you just force everyone touse it and your back to square one.

It's not difficult to beat off a scout rush, you just have to realise that they can do it.

Scout rush is a doggy matter.

Scout rush can cripple your planets construction capabilities and slow you down.

Or it can compleetly devastate your key sturctures (see, TEC scouts with time bombs)

The thing is, that you have to see the rush coming, before its too late. Scouts are cheap as dirt and hard to kill without fighters. Not seing TEC scoutrush coming at you might cripple you so bad that you wont recover in time to repell any LRM swarm that might to follow it.

About how many scouts would you need for the scout rush to work? Im thinking ten scout might do the job on auto attack

Ive seen up to 60 specifically done by phantom1, he runs the gambit on all you planets killing your constructor vesssels, and then moves on...if you are unlucky enough to be using a single campital ship to colonize a heavily guarded planet and he catches you , you can kiss that cap ship goodbye. the initial moeny you are given is enough to build an extra frgate fact, and about 33 scouts...it works, but is lame, and will be an isor with Entrenchment. in fact ALL spam rushing will hopefully and likely be nixed with entrenchment.

Thanks for the input, never thought to use TEC scouts like that before. I far as other crazy ideas I like to add scouts to my Advent fleets for the sole reason to ram CAP ships maybe this might work on those starbase too, if so it would suck to spend all of that money and resorces on big fat starbase and then have it killed off of by two dozen scouts on ram it mode

That's insane, I never met a player rush like that.

what is this scout ram mode i've never seen it done but yet again i haven't played online yet so i haven't seen it

the advent scout ram doesnt work well if you have multiple scouts they will ram one at a time allowing them to be slaughtered.plus it only does like 250 damge.not worth the time your facs take to build them when they could be building something usefull.

Perhaps the ram would work better coupled with something else, like malice. It would take some serious micro managing, but it could be quite devastating if it worked. Its crazy, but a fleet with a mothership, battleship with brilliance, a bunch of guardians, a few regular frigates to draw fire and a bunch of scouts with ram could possibly fight off say, a fleet of spammed lrms of a similar size. It'd be hard as hell to pull off tho.
