It's in beta mode. Entrenchment isn't actually 'out' until January 1. If there's going to be a box, that's when you can get it.

It's not out on January 1st either, it's just a placeholder date. It'll be out when it's ready

As to the OP - box is not going to happen. It's a $10 product. Throw in printing updated manuals, manufacturing discs, packaging boxes, trying to get shelf place in a retailer, and they probably pay about as much per box as it sells for. Some thinking before you post would do good

Gonna have to agree with shadow, even as a non modder, it would've been nice to be able to have two installations, to switch back forth between Entrenchment and vanilla.

You can do this. You'll have to re-install though. Just turn off the show pre-release in Impulse, install 1.12, copy that whole install folder to another location, and then update to Entrenchment.

You can run 1.12 out of the copied folder

Really? You're going to complain about an expansion before it's been released?

How about you use the beta period as a head start to make your mod(s) supportable under Entrenchment too? It really doesn't sound that hard to even backup the whole directory so I don't see your point in crying about things.

As far as I can tell Ironclad has been pretty decent about mods, but nobody ever claimed they needed to go far out of their way to help. I'm sure you'll be able to mod just fine in Entrenchment, there's no reason to be irritating and whiney that they didn't roll out the red carpet and spend a lot of extra time coddling to something that can be done manually without issue.

How the heck does Entrenchment being available via Impulse only impede modders? Modders are/have been updating their mods for 1.1+ and those are Impulse-only updates too.. People who are serious modders will own a copy of the game, and being that they own it, they will have the updates for it - regardless of how the software is distributed/delivered.

I want to create a skin for ObjectDesktop, but SD must deliver it via overnight express to my door otherwise "WTF is SD thinking not providing an overnight delivery service??? Damn, can't believe I even had to ask.."

Ummm are you a modder? Look all I'm saying is as far as I know (I have read some posts) is that the expansions will not be released in a box till all 3 are done which could take forever. In that time modders who can't get their hands on entrechment will lose their mods (which could have been great, what if 7 Deadly Sins had this problem?). Wow you really don't like to finish reading a post do you? Some modders (including me) can not get entrechment since it's available via impulse only, I for one don't have a credit card (I'm 15 ffs) and my mom kind of fucked her credit up...long story. What I was trying to say and did say was if you can't get entrechment how can you test a mod in it. Please read the whole fuckin post next time.

I don know what a troll is but how the fuk am I able to test a mod in entrechment if I can't get it. The reason impulse is great for updates is cuz updates are free, they use your serial (which get's rid of pirates which proves I am not a pirate if that's what a troll is since I have 1.12). For entrechment though you need a credit card, which some modders can't get. Man I can't believe how many of you don't get this...

Silly comments aside, I don't quite follow for two reasons:

One, why are you complaining already? The finished Entrenchment isn't even out yet, so modding to it right now would be useless, because god knows what kinds of things they're going to change in the finalized version.

Two, you get the source code whether it's in a box or if it's downloaded, so what's the big deal?

Honestly people, you don't need a credit card, a debit card works fine, and those are so easy to get. Go to the nearest bank and open an account and but the 20$ in it and you will get a debit card in days. If that is to hard then get a job at burger king, they give you a debit card so that they can pay you. Hell there is even a thing called a "Only 1 prepaid visa card" Its a card designed for people who need to purchase things over the internet and such, and who can't get real debit or credit cards. It has like a 5 dollar activation fee. look i even got you a link.

Fair enough, I take that back.

You should edit your opening post to say that many who want to buy Entrenchment cannot because it requires a credit card, and you don't have one. It's not specific to modders only, but rather, affects any and all potential customers who want to buy Entrenchment. If this is your point, then yes, I think you have a good point, and though I have a credit card, I do understand and sympathise with your situation.

SD - How about it? Maybe you can have a PDF mail-in form with a cheque/money order, and email/add the serial/etc to the person's Impulse account? At least people have a non-electronic method to pay for Entrenchment while using current electronic methods (Impulse) to download it.

Just a note, Only1 only allows US residents - ie. they need a Social Security No, due to (believe it or not) the Patriot Act. So non-US residents can't use that, nor can they use the Burger King job approach (since again, I think that's a US thing).

And yes, one can ask one's friends and family to help, but sometimes, if we can, it would be nicer to do it ourselves than troubling others.

You can contact sales@stardock.com. They can take non-standard methods of payment, you just need to set it up with them.

Getting money into paypal outside the US is non-trivial if you don't have a credit card. The odds of me allowing an unregulated foreign company direct access to my bank account are somewhere between null and zero.
