How to use Revelation properly?

(noob question)

I was digging through the forums to find some tips on how to use the rev. I'm new to the game and I'm learning Advent, and it seems that Rev is kinda craptacular compared to other Advent ships, as well as its other-race counterparts. Another thread https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/335442 mentioned the reverie stunlock, which is something I haven't thought about, but other than that, what exactly is it good for?

I remember someone saying that the Advent's first 5 caps should be 1 of each, but I don't exactly understand this philosophy. It's got some spells that, unlike the rap/rad/proj spells, don't stack over with other ships. If i wanted to do my noob capspam, instead of guiding the Radiance, I could use the 50 food for a second one.

Based on the fact that it has less weapons than the Radiance, but has a more damaging front-shooting gun, I hazard to guess that Revelation is intended to be the Advent's dreadnaught/planet bomber. But compared to its counterparts, Marza is a terror, and Vulkoras is half decent, but Rev just doesn't seem to cut it.

What is this flying shoe good for, other than stunlocking ships against unvary human opponents?

I call it the JalepeƱo.

Anyways, you can instantly scount any planet you want with it, and it's pretty good against planets with max health. Plus it has the stunlock and interrupt. Pretty annoying to encounter one of those when you have only a few ships available.

It is one of 2 possible second cap ships I use. I usually get motehrship first, then Revelation or Carrier.  The stun is awesome, totally owns missile barrage.

Nothing wrong with radiance if you want sheer firepower; as far as the Advent faction goes, it delivers that much better than any, and can disable capital ships just like the revelation.  The revelation is more subtle; you don't destroy enemy units with it, but instead disable those units so that they can't help in the ensuing battle.  There is one thing you can do with the revelation that you can't do with radiance, and that's prevent enemies from running away.  If they do, you get some free kills, maybe even a cap if you're lucky.

Halopeno is useles, since its weak, weak and did i mention its weak?

The stun is meh ... but. the lact of any real utility skills besides it makes it weak and pitifyl excuse for a cap ship.

The advent need progenitor if you consider to keep up in your economy. Progenitor with lvl 2 or 3 colonisation.

Do othervice, and not only you will lose your means to compete in economy, you also make your guardians fairly useless existance. And guardians are the lifeblood that makes advent... well, advent.

If you absolutly must go "homo-homo" style, get battlecruiser, it NIGERIAN-HIJACK ability makse any carrier spamming opponent cry, as you can go hijack his expensive toys on the flight ^__^

I never use the Revelation.

Early game, any decent sized neutral mob snaps it like a twig.

It can't perform it's supposed siege function any better than the rest of the Advent caps. Later with Hysteria it still takes ages to bomb any planet. The key to effective sieging strats is the ability to take down unfortified planets fast and the Revelation can't do that.

Radiance is more reliable in countering other caps, especially ones that have abilities that can be triggered between Reveries. Radiance can also take a beating and inflict some real damage.

Reverie is annoying to use because it won't let you fire on the stunned ship.

Guidance is just lackluster.

Clairvoyance is a very nice scouting tool but still doesn't make the Revelation worthwile.

Looking like a leprachaun's shoe doesn't make this cap any more appealing either.

The Revelation is a low priority cap ship for the advent.  It has a small set of uses.  The big one being the stun one.  It is one of the few things for Advent that will interupt the Marza'a missle barrage.  It is also usefull to help finish off a cap ship that is trying to run.  Generally people try to run when the hull starts getting decently damaged.  The stun will interupt the phase jump giving you a little extra damage time or time for you to have an iconus guardian push it away from the edge of the well.  It often makes the difference from a cap that gets destroyed from a cap that gets away.  Its other abilities are really lackluster and unless there is a marza or a draining evacuator that you must interupt and kill there is little use.  The planet killing ultimate ability is nice but its so rare that I have a revelation get that far.  It can also be nice if you are right next to your enemy and want to take the enemy's cap out of the equation in a very early rush.  You are so gimped in the cap ship otherwise though that its not generally worth it and other caps are more beneficial.

To sum up, it should be your last choice of a cap ship unless you have a level 6 or soon to be level 6 marza threatening you.

The revelations disable ability is not that great since the radience disables cap abilities and thus the missile barrage. It also does damage and takes its am away.

Radiance won't stop an enemy cap from running away or attacking, though.  They're two separate abilities.  They may have some overlap in purpose, but you cannot compare them directly.

I usually have one around for Clairvoyance.

End of Darvin3's quote

Not to mention how cool it is to have the enemy ship stuck while it is still taqking damage from drain antimater when you use both abilities.

Someone mentioned in another thread that Guidance should be a passive aura.

I think it's a great idea, thought Id bring it here too.

The best way to use Revelation is don't.  The other four Caps are better.  The only thing I like about Revelation is Provoke Histeria, and it is a level 6 ability.

I like the Rev as a time-saver.  It saves time scouting, and it does seem to me to take down planets (at level 6) faster than the other siege caps.  (Not sure this is right, but it seems that way to me.)  Since I don't really usually build caps for firepower, but for support, I like this ship.
