Why all the TEC hate?

Why all the TEC hate?

Yesterday i played a game as TEC first time since when i started playing online it was a huge random quick start, etc. Now EVERYONE else was playing as Vasari or Advent. Why not TEC units are cheap abiet they do suck early on bu upgrade their armor and you got a great fighting force get some hoshi's and that marza isn't gonna die back it up with kodiaks and carriers and you got a solid fleet. They also have a great ECo maybe they lag a little behind on cyrstal and metal but you can buy those since you got so much money.

So why all the hate for TEC? Why does no one play as them? (or maybe i don't see them, but ive played enough to see a general lack of TEC players.)

Yeah, I could've seen going 20 hoshikos where he went 30 instead. I'd have used the extra supply for carriers or LRMs, probably. That fleet might have worked wonders against a Vasari player with no decent repair ability (curious that he's missing a Skiranta), but a TEC player with less hoshis and some actual LRM support might've rearranged that fight. But honestly...why is anyone making a fleet with more than 2 Ceilos? Especially one that small?

I generally take TEC due to balanced SC design (Advent get higher numbers but they're weaker, and Vasari have much stronger but get less per group), faster trade research, cheap ships, and probably the best over-all capital ships in my opinion. When I say the "best over-all" I mean...I'm willing to use 4 of the 5 cap-ship types of TEC in any game. I don't really use Sovas unless I'm screwing around. Two Akkans almost negate the need for a colony frigate (barring the neutral miners, of course) and work a lot better. The Targetting uplink is a decent passive ability that lets your fleet get off a few shots before theirs comes in range. The Ion Bolt can cause problems for Marzas attempting MB. Marzas...need I say more? Kols...flak burst, oh so much. And a pair of Dunovs with shield restore keep a fleet alive (and with their ult. ability, Flux field, can make hoshikos and Kols that much more powerful). And civilian tree techs? Give me Industrial Juggernaut and Pervasive Economy FTW. :)

The Advent and Vasari have less abilities that I want as capital ships go. The Vasari's mobility is definitely something I always consider, but the cost of that mobility is also something I consider. The Advent are the hardest for me to play just because the sheer cost of their empire and their "culture is everything" focus kind of falters due to culture's simplicity. If culture could give you more rewards (such as planets joining you without needing a severe carpet bombing), then it might make more sense.

They do at that, but their bonuses don't stack. Fifteen is just wicked redundancy. Considering the need for scouts with Entrenchment, two cover a fleet just fine with redundancy and keeping low numbers (Ceilos are damn hard to find and target in a major furball).
