[MOD] Sound Blast 1.1

So I don't know about anyone else but I ended up getting bored of some of the music in sins (even though some of it is very cool!) and got tired of running winamp at the same time as Sins so I decided to goof off with replacing some of the music and ended up making a mod out of it.

I've thoroughly tested the mod and have found no problems with it what so ever except for trying to play the files outside of the game, all files play just fine in game on both my computer and my brothers.

Hope you enjoy!!

LINK!!: Download here

INSTALLATION: If you don't know what to do with the file just unzip the folder into your mods folder and enable it in game.  If you're an XP user, mods folder should be under "Documents and settings\<username>\Local Settings\Application Data\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\"  The folder will have a different name based on your version of sins and rather you have any expansions.  If you don't use XP then well I don't know where it is because I haven't used Vista or 7 yet.

******Mod notes******

ALL music files replaced

Capital ship level up sound replaced (I still rofl every time)

All "announcement" sounds replaced

All "Pirates have arrived at our world" sounds replaced.

Compatibility: Should work with all versions of Sins and Entrenchment, I can't see it not working with Diplomacy, works with all other mods that do not replace sounds.

******Additional info******

The only downside I can see to the mod so far is downloading it, the file is rather huge and there's not a lot I can do about it since all of the music files are in a compressed format in the first place and don't zip too well, so sorry about the huge file size.  Some of the music files I shrank via lowering the quality of the sound but I try not to do that much for obvious reasons, the only file I left over 4mb is about six and a half minutes long so it's big anyway.

Most of the music I used in this mod is from other games or is remixed from other games with few exceptions.

Most of the music I used also has no words in it, again with few exceptions.

To me playing the game most of the music seems to fit the mood of what's going on with the exception of the intro screen music and I left it simply because it makes me laugh every single time I hear it at the intro screen.

All remixes I used except one can be found at either ocremix.com or vgmix.com.

All music files can be played by renaming the file extension to ".mp3" and loading them into winamp or various other MP3 players.  The three "PirateFleetArrived" event files were wav files and should be renamed to ".wav" if you're looking to play them.

******Important mod compataibility notes******

When using this mod in addition to other mods that have any replaced music (like Distant Stars for example) you will need to place this mod on top to get the opening theme and battle music or you can place it under DS to get the theme and battle music from DS, while still keeping other music that DS does not replace from this mod.

******Credits******

All of the amazingly talented remixers of Ocremix and VGmix for their awesome remixes, some of which I used in this mod.

All of the authors of the original soundtracks which I used in this mod.

Me for all my time consuming annoying work and nerdiness.

My brother for pushing me to finish.

******Redistribution******

Anyone and Everyone is welcome to alter, add to, use and re distribute this mod as a whole or parts of this mod as much as they want.  Give credit if you feel like it and don't if you don't, I really don't mind either way.

Is this for entrenchment or the orignal sins?

You know that's a good question.  It was made for entrenchment but I haven't tested it with vanilla.  I don't see any reason it wouldn't work with vanilla though.

I was considering doing a complete workover of all the voice themes for Advent and Vasari as well since most of them are extremely annoying to me and I'm wondering how many other people would be interested in using such a mod if I were to do so?

I would use sound files from other RTS games mostly but some sounds would be seemingly randomly thrown in there.

Either way any sort of feedback would be appreciated.  Anyone else get annoyed with the advent and vasari voice themes like I do? X|

Personally I think the mod is fine...it been a while since there was a sound mod

I love this mod.  The only thing I'd want to see done to it (aside from voice changing - which is honestly grating) is for even more songs to be added to it (and none removed)

End of darkrememberence's quote

I hadn't thought of that, would it work though?  If you just add more files in (say after "Battle 15" just go up in numbers) will the game use them?  If that's the case I got more I can add in.

sure, you just have to increase the number of music each race get in the player(race) file

Alrighty well, from looking at the file I can't really tell what I'm supposed to change to do that.

In all honesty I more or less didn't 'mod' anything, I just replaced files with other files and renamed them. :p

If you look in the gameinfo file you can see player_psi, player_phase etc

in those you see: music_vasari_theme_10 music_vasari_trouble_10 etc

I'm guessing he means if you up those numbers

It's been almost a year but I've come back and re-posted my mod with a small update.

Well I decided to take out the extra character portraits since I don't even know who made them and I couldn't give credit to anyone for it.

Great idea. I'm getting this now.

As for the portraits, I would leave them with "Credit Forthcoming" or something till you find out who.
