worst loosers i've ever seen in mp

longest match ever.....

Today I joined a 2v2 against Knight of Nine and Free Lancer, on a custom map free lancer had made. there was 2 solar systems, and it took over 5 minutes to go from one planet to another (i'm not kidding). still, i thought "oh well, it's different from the ordinary maps at least."

about 1 1/2 hours later, the enemy in my solar system was defeated while i was feeding my ally enough to keep his at bay. then i run my forces down to the other solar system which took at least 15-20 minutes -only to jump from 1 star to the other- (again. not kidding). add the 15 or so mins it took to jump to the star.

that in itself is not so bad though, what was worse that when it was obvious they were loosing, Free Lancer said... i quote "i will keep you up all night!", and said "if you want to sleep, surrender." he also went on a name-calling frenzy, to take an example he called my teammate a bit**. it took close to an hour to set up manufacturing bases at the "front line" in the solar system, which was still 10-15 mins of travel-time away from the front.

by then i also had 6 novaliths spamming from the other solar system since he refused to surrender. i think it took roughly 1-1 1/2 hour for the first shot to arrive. (again just to point out the freaky size of the map), all in all it took close to 6 hours to root him out, since he defended with 25 drone hosts and over 150 illums. this was before i got my frigate factories up in his system, and he claimed to have rebuilt all of it before the first nova strike hit, and before i got my fleet set up with enough hard counter to wipe the floor with him (even though it would still take a huge amount of time due to his numbers)

if there is a god he took mercy on us, since after the 6 hours Free Lancer's game crashed, which basically saved me and my ally in between 1-2 hours in game time to root him out.

that being said, don't be surprised if you play against those two and they drag the match out as endlessly as they can when they start to loose. And dont ever let free lance host and choose the map. i can't see any other reason than him choosing such a crazy map except for aiding in his dragging-out-the-game-endlessly strategy and trying to make the winning teams log.

I know that I for one, will never, ever play against either Free Lance or Knight of Nine again. Now I will go sleep, even though it's morning...........

I'm talking about technical skills scripting, data mining, etc, not game skill, and definitely not for a clan. FYI

Pretty sure that's illegal dude.

So, as a matter of etiquette, when the other side starts saying gg, are you supposed to surrender or something? One of the players in my first actual game got pretty testy after he conceded. Ofc, I'm sure part of it was that it took me over an hour to figure out how to message them.

My biggest pet peev is when the guy who is losing doesn't say GG before quiting.  My second biggest pet peev is when the guy doesn't press the surrender button, but instead presses the quit button.  However, my third biggest pet peev is when a noob quits while his team still has a fighting chance or doesn't even tell them that he is thinking of quiting.

For what it's worth...

Whats amusing is that the op can't even spell 'Lose'.

you know there are two different english languages right? american english and british english. didn't you learn that at school, or were you sleeping in class? it is spelled correctly.

(edit) sorry about this post, but i get somewhat vexed when someone randomly posts a completely irrelevant comment about spelling.

see what i did there? i used a completely pointless synonym to annoyed/irritated just to look cool with my phat leet english skillz on teh intarweb LOLZ :moo:

well, not necessarily. i have been in matches where it seemed obvious my team was going to loose, but we pulled through and managed to pull some sneaky stuff and nuke a hw and grab and hold an asteroid next to another hw :P

also lost a few matches where I thought "hey, i'm doing pretty good, i think i'm winning this" :pout:

Wait ! , Surrender is broken because it causes the AI that takes over to be inert. Some noobs will always be noobs and leave when things dont go their way regardless of how their team is doing. Forexample players like Ender. If that noob was on my team , I would hate it if he surrenders. Atleast the AI can stall the enemy .

I was more talking about the situation when the whole team decides it's GG time, but one guy decides to make you nuke each of his planets.  In this case, I would rather the people who leave to press the surrender button, thereby allowing you to finish mopping up faster.

Its basically if you know you are going to lose and the other guy asks you to quit then do it type of thing. Its like if its 2v1 and the 2 own 3/4 of the map you arent gonna pull no sneaky stuff and win.

Mostly about wasting a persons time.

Sweet.  It was a FFA, and number two was the guy trying to get out of there.  Number one was giving me some pointers until he sacked my HW (which was fookin wild to watch a SB and marza detonate at the same moment).  But I wanted to ride it all the way down and try to learn something about defense, and I did make it extremely costly, so that was nice. Number one never asked for a quit, so I think I understood the dynamic right.
