This past weekend one of the guys in New Mexico was getting his capoeira name (like a semi-formal nickname) and he was this big ass, black guy that could crush your head with his hand, so they thought the name of some famous warrior from Africa would be a good nickname. I thought it was an honor to be named after a historical badass. Some dumbass, black lady (the parent of one of the kids that practices there) took offense and got all huffy and puffy, so they changed it. No mind that these guys are Brazilian to begin with (thus race is not at all taken the same way there) and that the one guy in the group who actually comes from Africa considered it to be flattering as hell. No, instead she gets to put her two cents in cause she has an opinion despite contributing dick.
