Doesnt really matter which part of the military you are. You still serve your country, and are willing to die for it.

@whoever has enlisted (mostly Alpha Snipe): You serve in the military, you pay your taxes, you consume various products and goods (helping economy), you let these "politicians" do whatever they please, you are even willing to give your life for your country.

Banned because as someone who has asked that myself on occasion, I can tell you that the answer is "quite a lot, actually" (especially for our European readers): Roads, medical care, police protection, the ability to use paper money as opposed to lugging gold bars around everywhere, that sort of thing. The question you really should be asking is "do you put more into your country than you get out of it?"

Poor poor Scoutdog..... You pay for all that you mentioned. You pay for all these things to be taken care of by the government. You work really hard for it. They just decide what to do with your money, and how/where to spend it. Basically, they take all the power from the people, and use it for themselves, acquiring wealth, power and fame, while you have almost no control over political decisions.

They are also capable of presenting all that as "democracy", making you feel safe and "in good hands", basically making people delusional. And they are doing a damn good job, I can tell you that.

LOL, politicians have even made people like you wonder if they do enough for their country, thats a nice one!

Let me ask you a question: What is a nation/country? (definition) - You should be able to answer that, right?

The problem with "what has your country ever done for you" is exactly what you described- they are perfectly capable of doing things for you while screwing you over (in which case the answer to the question is "yes" but the answer to the spirit of the question is "no").

And my definition of a country is any government with territory and people it thinks it owns [EDIT] but does not make profits or sell stock on the open market.

1. I haven't enlisted yet. Cadets now, Officer Training Corps at Uni, then Sandhurst, so I'm a full-time Officer. Though, I might do a "gap-year commision" or whatever it's called, where you pretty much do basic training and are then given a military scholarship at the Uni you go to afterwards, on the condition that you return for a proper commision afterwards.

2. I would start talking about this, but then we'd get into the Venus Project debate again. Maybe in the Chatroom, but in the Banned game is effort.

Uhm....does it matter? You are gonna be a good soldier sooner or latter, so its just a matter of time. Enjoy your time serving, and good luck.

Banned for I would argue, but it's your opinion.

Though to be fair, it does suck that men and women have to risk their lives daily for reasons often not fully explained to them.

Banned because I reserve my ire (of which I have quite a bit) for specific organizations I find detrimental to worldwide safety and stability. Militaries often fall onto that list, but I find it necessary to decide on a case-by-case basis.

I'm willing to give the British one the benefit of the doubt, because I haven't heard much if anything about their behavior.
