You're Banned!: The Forum Game

Okay, here's what you do for this game: You have to "ban" the person who posted above you for an outrageous, silly, or funny reason. Got it?

Banned because Lost focuses all of its attention of Enlightenment Era philosophy, attempting to challenge it using reductionist theory while completely ignoring all existential works following the Modern Era. Furthermore, it hides its use of reductionist theory under the faux-pas of Daoist references, ignoring the Brahman philosophies which transcend the existential-creationist gap and preceded the later structures of divinity.

And I feel that obesity, or any other problem, should be treated using a grass-roots reach into the cultural mindset of a people rather than punishing those considered undesirable, their individual conditions aside. The social contract of crime and punishment is a one edged blade, always turned downward with a heavy hand.

Next time you want to categorize and bitch about being categorized at the same time, try picking a fight with someone whose intelligence you can quantitatively measure against.

GODAMN FORUMS GO BOOM! I had an effing post

this freaking long, and POOF it's freaking GONE!

Dammit

*sigh*

About Lost:

Ryat: Truly you must Jest.

Draak: The philosophy in Lost doesn't primarily focus on that, it focuses on internal and interpersonal conflict, mostly, good and evil, right and wrong, faith and science, the group or the individual, friends or family, etc.  The references to older philosophy you noticed were notable characters (probably also named after philosophers, i.e. John Locke) challenging older philosophy in a challenge or task they must complete, and then overcoming it with modern philosophy and thinking.

About the Obesity Tax: The tax is NOT about looks, rather stereotypical thinking, IMHO. It's about how the German monetary policy is being strained to the breaking point by the 20% of their populace that is obese, so rather than have this group become the downfall of their country, they're going to make this group help support the roof over their heads, hardly an act of prejudice, IMO, more of an act of common sense.

Banned because you, sir, are a flaming hypocrite, you do the above constantly, save however, for the last part.  I will admit that you are unimaginably more intelligent than I, however, I expected someone as intelligent as yourself to pick up on this rather early: I am 1/2 your age, therefore not only am I not done developing, I am also nowhere near as schooled or experienced as yourself. One could compare our debate to a 12 year old playing chess against a grand master, sure, the 12 year old loses, gets crushed even.  But, who gives a damn? He beat a 12 year old.  Even if you prove your point in this argument, what will you achieve?  Your ego will expand, your petty little self confidence and esteem will also grow as a result, should you win, and I beleive you will, so before you go around bragging, do keep in mind that you are a tiger catching a meerkat, a hawk catching a mouse, a human swatting away a gnat.

And sorry it took me so long to respond; I had to finish sending an e-mail.

Enlightenment philosophy was focused on all of those things, as are most all philosophies. Enlightenment philosophy was merely a shift from the religious and cosmic to the earthbound and humanistic.

Yes, older philosophers... from the Enlightenment Era. And the new philosophy was reductionist, but they threw in Daoist references to make it seem cooler than it was.

It's about stereotypical thinking. So you could maybe change it by trying to change the mindset of a people? German health care is strained. Interesting. As I understand it, they consider elective surgery a matter of mental health and cover that under their healthcare system. So a boob job is okay because it benefits a person mentally and everyone else should help pay. However, some obese people have anatomical malformations which cause the problem, and so they should pay extra. Nice.

I never bitch about being categorized. In fact, I categorize myself. Ask anyone here. I am a Jewish, Germanic, Grammar-Nazi, Nerdy, Dutch named, gamer who has been called more names by my friends and acquaintances than strangers and bullies altogether. I'll shoot back, but the phrase is 'Judge not, lest ye be judged'. Do you know anyone who has not judged? So doesn't that mean that you should expect that you will judge, but must keep in mind that others will judge you in return? I don't care if you judge, but I don't want to hear you bitch when you feel it come back around.

Only... ONLY because you call out people while hating to be called out. Yes, I get irate with some people, but I also try to disprove their points, as above. And I am only smarter than you because you let me be so. Sure, it's hard to compete with experience since that's not something you alone have total control over, but the knowledge that you have your limits is powerful in itself. I have had my ass handed to me repeatedly, physically and mentally, but I make my best effort to walk away having learned something. If you can even begin to have suffered a great loss, with none other to blame than yourself, and can walk away and build yourself back up from nothing and not utter a damned word about it to anyone, that's the first step towards being a man.

*sigh* IDK why I picked a fight with you of all people, tonight of all nights.

Anyway,

About the Tax: Since I can see that you won't budge on whether or not it's stereotypical or not, I'll ask you this: you have a millionaire come to your house and ask to live there until his new house is rebuilt, since his old one got wrecked in an earthquake. Being a hospitable guy, you let him stay.  However, you later learn that his house will take several years to complete, and that him and his family are going to drive you into debt unless you manage to come up with a new source of income, or start a second mortgage. Do you charge the man who came to you for help rent, or go into debt for a good cause?

About the Categorization: Hence why I try to stay as neutral and uninvolved upon most topics, if I do remember correctly is was you and Ryat who categorized ME first by calling me a psychopath for understanding Lost, to a degree.  Blaming this on me for not expecting to be judged in return is an error, since I"m used to judgement and WILL bitch back about it as a result (isn't that what you're doing as well? One could call any argument over something as unnecessary as this bitching) Therefore, I expect of you, good sir, to follow your own policy, and judge, but not bitch when you get judged in return.

About the personality stuff: I call out to people to question their motives, while at the same time I will admit to hating being drawn into focus, primarily because I fear both rejection and judgement. I honestly doubt that the matter of our different IQ's is merely a result of my attitude about the matter, you're smarter and I'm stupider, that's all their is to it.  The knowledge that I have my limits depresses me more than anything else these days, since I know that my times of intellectual expansion and being the prodigy of my generation are over.  If becoming a man involves the process of falling on your ass over and over and over and over again only to build your little tower back up higher and stronger than last time in the vane hope to withstand the next fall, then I've become a man long ago, at least according to that philosophy.  Since you seem more intelligent than anybody else here, I'll ask you this question, one which has yet to have an answer.

"What is life? Is life the act of learning to crawl, then learning to walk, then learning to run, only to fall down and having to learn to crawl again?"

banned because you don't know a joke when you see one.

But if you want to take the psychopath comment as the first swing, cool. You're crazy and I'm coo coo for cocoa puffs.

About the TAX: Why is it an obesity tax? Why not have the healthcare set up so that it covers a partial cut of those things deemed less important? Heart transplant? Covered. Boob Job? 20% covered. Heart surgery for guy who jams McDonalds down his gullet like there's no tomorrow (yes, Americans look a little better when you're standing in the middle of just about any doctor's office anywhere)? 30% covered. It's a progressive system like that with smaller considerations compiled to determine coverage that might benefit them. Scots considered passing a tax on chocolate because people are eating too much milk chocolate for their own good, but no additional tax on twinkies. Hmm. Even Americans have a system such as that built in for determining placement on transplant lists. Perfect? No. Do we see a lot of coke fiends get in on it? No.

Don't fear rejection.

You're not smarter nor dumber unless you choose to be. There are different gauges and all can be changed.

Knowledge is never limited. As long as you choose, you can expand. You are limited by your nature, but the will can bend that nature to its full potential. Depression only comes with the will's acceptance of a more limited nature than is true.

Becoming a man entails many things. That is but one step.

Life is. Creation is not done with purpose, but is simply done for its own sake with no goals or intents. Life is not about being born, surviving and dying. It's about the simple existence of life. The value we place on it, the places we choose to take it, the experiences we fill it with, are all of our own creation.

Edit: And I just really couldn't stand the show.

Banned because you can't park your Van there, sir.

EDIT\\\ Damn! Quite literally speak of the Devil.

About the Tax: I get your point, however I think that making people with an average BMI or weight, whichever you prefer, have to pay to indulge themselves in unhealthy foods isn't fair, but then again neither is government nor is life, so it really depends upon how one chooses to go about it.

About the intelligence stuff: Whether or not I choose to learn or expand, once again, hardly changes anything.  IDK, at this point in time my inferiority complex has consumed me to the point where I'm self depressing, so I'll try to resume this conversation with you when I get over it.

About the whole "be a man" thing: A journey of a thousand miles must begin with a single step, for starters, but save for the whole "get inside a girls pants" part, I think I'm as much of a man as anyone else in the room.

About the philosophical thing: So, you came up with the same answer I did, that life only has the purpose and value that you choose to give it. So much for getting a different perspective on the matter. But, alas, I digress.

Good morning, I'm going to bed before mom gets up for work.
