Banned because of Janeway.
Who was actually far from my favorite.
If I wrote a space serial, I'd have a captain who got the job because of political favoritism and is more like Baltar than Adama. While making that character female might be interesting, the one whose gender I'd care about is the chief NCO of whatever MACOS, Marines, etc. exist on the ship. The rest I'd assign randomly.
banned for I would base it on which one gets naked in chapter two.
Banned because you clearly understand too much to actually be serious about your military conspiracy theory stuff.
Being able to thoughtfully distinguish officers from NCOs while considering gender politics means you can appreciate the fact that either group can gain status via corruption or honorable service. If you don't grok that yet, it's just a matter of time until you've read enough true and/or fictional stories about military orgs.
p.s. Janeway was definitly not my favorite Trek captain, but I ended up thinking rather better of her after watching Shatner's semi-wacky documentary on The Captains. The Sisko is the standout weirdo in that crowd.
banned for he didn't intend to be the weirdo. Having your wife offed and then told you're Jesus can kinda take you crazy places. But it was nice to see a philosophical sci-fi take on the challenge of incorporating religious tones without making an overwhelming effort to completely break them down to science.
