I am having this exact same problem.
Is the freaking web service down?
EDIT: More details. I apparently have an account registered with this email, but it does not show that i own Sins of a Solar Empire. (it is registered for Galactic Civilizations 1.) When i type in the serial number from the BOX THAT I AM HOLDING, it says that this is not the right serial number for this email... SO, the Question Is: if there is no SoaSE key in my email, then why can i not put in the one on the box that i bought? If there IS one in my email, then WHY CAN I NOT D/L A PATCH? Only one of the above can be true, the other false. Impulse and the website seem to think ... both of these are false.
Please help, because I believe that either someone is using valid keys out there in pirate databases ... OR ... your web service is failing in epic fashion. Either one of these == fail in the long haul, especially in regards to my satisfaction as a customer who, up till this day, had been out there praising Stardock for their liberal policies re: noninvasive anti-piracy tactics.
