Cap ships and unspent points

I was playing yesterday and noticed when I moused over my Cap ship (KOL), it said I had 2 unspent points. Can someone please explain:

1. What these points are

2. How did I get them

3. How do I spend them and

4. What do i spend them on?

Thanks in advance..

They are command point for fighter and bomber squadrons. Each capital ship can field varying amounts of strikecraft squadrons, and you get them by leveling the ship up. Some ships start with being able to build squads, and some ships start getting them later on as they level.

Once you get your first command point, you'll be able to use the strikecraft squad button in the lower right to pick which you want ;)

i think it may also mean that you have X points to spend on abilities, but dont quote me on that

Ability points (denoted by a + sign on the ship in the Empire Tree) are points that can be used to acquire/upgrade abilities for your capital ship.

Command points (denoted by > in the Empire Tree) are points used for strike craft squadrons (one point = one fighter OR one bomber squadron).

Capital ships get one ability point every time they level, and once assigned, cannot be resassigned to another ability. Level 2 upgrades for regular abilities are unlocked at level 3, the level 3 ability upgrades are unlocked at level 5. Ultimate abilities are unlocked at level 6.

Command points become available depending on both the capital ship type and level (example, carriers will eventually have 6 squadrons, whereas planet bombing ships will only ever get 1 squadron).

What I find most intreging (not that I already know the values, heck, I could easily look at the files), is how even ironclad came up with the values so that a mazra could get a command point when it is level 5 yet keep it at one when it is a level 10

There's a starting value, and an increase per level. It's easy enough to have a starting value high enough that at level 5 you get one, but not enough to get another at 10 :P

yup, it's all in the files. kol for example starts with .6 and gains .2 per level ( things get command point or squad per round number) just dl the forge tools and look it up in the reference data. you could probably open the actual files too, but I have no idea what program to use for .entity files. or whatever their type is.
