I hope a DEV reads this. I just had a bit of an epiphone. Make a random mape mode where each person is going to get their own star. Say, 8-10 planets around each star, and 1 of those planets is a pirate base, so really 7-9. Devs, you can pick the number. Personally I say 8. No black holes. None.
Ok. Maybe get a set up for having one black hole per system, and all of these black holes go off into another "system" where you can go from one system to another via black hole.
No more being screwed by map generator:
This would also get rid of being screwed by the map's set-up. Random map generator does that sometimes. Now it wouldn't matter so much.
People will play Sins the way it was meant to be played!
I like the idea because you'd get to colonize your own system, and then head off to take another. You'd also be forced to make defenses because lord knows your opponents could come in from any other star, meaning we might finally see the mystical 4 starbases at a sun finally. This map genre could get reeeeally interesting. It'd essentially be you can colonize your own system, or take a risk and rush someone else's system.
I like the idea. It'd definitely be a different feel if in a 1v1 (ok, here not so much), 2v2, 3v3, 4v4, 5v5, because teams could actually look at the map and say "Ok, he's really good, our best player should be tackling him" (I.E. When people tell me I need to fight off JJ when he's on the other side of the map)
It'll help stop the rush stigma that seems to be scaring people from playing online
This might take out some of rush stigma that's associated with online gaming at the moment. I like the possiblities for strategies this would procure. It'd definitely fit the sins mold and would be more accomodating to the single player mentality. Who knows. Might draw more people online. Might draw people to the game.
It'd be a nice change of pace to the current online gaming experience. That much I know. You go from a 4v4 on a single star large system game to a 5v5 where each person has a star and each person can tackle whoever he wants on the opposing side.
