Hi just_jim, on the old soa2 wip thread I saw some models you created, they were way cool. So I was wondering if you have created or are creating any models for soa2?

It would be awesome to have Terok Nor or Utopia Planitia stations or even a revamped K7, now that would be cool.

No, I've been out of the animating loop too long.  And I've got a lot here going on trying to recied a Demo CD...

 

GulKelan, maybe later tonight if I can free up a few hours.  Problem is I'm a single dad and I have a 17 year old daughter... lol... It's kinda hard to free up a few hours to play a full game... I usually just play the AI and I don't think I've ever played a game from start to finish without having to pause for some crisis or another...

Hey,

 

I should have the house to myself for a bit sometime this week, so should probably be able to voice up some stuff either myself or I can bully some friends into it. What sort of voice overs do you still need? I'm guessing ship voice overs are always appreciated, but what about general ui ones, I note that Latinum/Trilithium/Dilithium still use the Credits/Metal/Crystal voice overs, and the diplomatic ones are also stock. So yeah, does anyone know what still needs to be done? I'd just rather not waste my energies (and somebody else's) by submitting the same as someone else has.

Okay, I'm willing to take it on faith that I'm being over-reliant on the damage numbers to make sense of the game, and I'll even buy AdmiralBane's call on spamming Excelsiors (I haven't been able to make an online game yet, so I'm stuck playing the AI for the time being).

So what, praytell, is the big selling point of the Klingons?  Aside from the top Cap Ship (which does a lot more damage and has more SP/HP than any fed ship for the same support as a Soverign Class) and the B'Rel with its forward attack, what do the Klingons have going for them?  It seems like every time I watch a few Klingon cruisers mix it up with a similar mixed Fed fleet, the Klingons are all toast likity-split (and a lost faster if there are Akiras and Excelsiors).

Maybe this has something to do with the aforementioned cloak that doesn't work now that Stardock has made some tweaks, because I could see that really tipping things back in their favor, but right now I just don't get how the Klingons can hang in there with anything approaching a rounded fleet.

To answer what factions are going to be in the mod.. again

Federation, Klingons, Romulans, and the Borg will be separate playable factions. The Dominion have combined Cardassians, and Breen "battle thralls". Being that the mod is set during a non-canon "second dominion war" (lore being worked on). With the Borg crashing the party. Cardassia, and Bajor are re-conqured. DS-9 is destroyed, and the Dominion control the wormhole. Rather than annihilating the Cardassians for thier betrayal during the 1st dominion war. The Founders enslaved them. They had a choice. Fight for the founders, or die. The Breen were more than happy to re-join thier old allies. The founders dont care how the Breen feel as long as they fight.

The Federation, Klingon, and Romulan relationships became just a little "frosty" Since the events of Nemesis. The Klingons did not like the peace overtures the Federation were making toward the Romulans. The Romulans being masters of subterfuge took advantage of the situation, and caused a few "accidents" that looked like were caused by the Federation.

When the Dominion broke the cease fire, and pored through the wormhole like a tidal wave, no one was prepared. DS-9 was the 1st target, and was easily destroyed. Then a three pronged assault on the 3 alpha quadrant powers ensued. Each faction is able to just barely hold thier own against the dominion onslaught. The Dominion is firmly entrenched in the alpha quadrant with endless re-enforcements via the wormhole.

Meanwhile numourous transwarp signatures are detected. Thousands of Borg ships exit a transwarp network that was not as damaged as previously thought. The newly emboldened Borg collective now deems the Alpha, and Beta quadrant races the most serious threat to thier existance. Diplomacy is irrelevent, Co-existance is irrelevent, Assimilation is irrelevent. Only Annihilation is acceptable. This time with not just one ship, but the force of the entire collective.

It's been mentioned that they screwed the pooch on torpedo damage.  The fed ships have higher missile values than their counter-parts, that would explain the Excelsior and Akira issue.  Both of those ships have particularly high torpedo attacks than their klingon counter-parts, despite being significantly weaker in raw numbers.  The Akira has an ungodly 4400, stock value.  After all the upgrades, you're looking at a one shot ship killer.  When that comes out at the start of a fight, they floor half the fleet.  It's got a delay of 100, so the fight might be over before they get a second shot off, but the initial volley is murder.

I agree the damage is too high on some ships and that volley the Akira does is insane... I had 24 of them enter the pirate base system and needless to say the battle was over in a few winks. Maybe the Akira class could have a special ability? Or increase the reload time and lower the damage a bit... I mean I think the Akira was supposed to be able to fire several full volley's of torpedoes but I can't remember for sure. All that being said... it's a mod... so we'll take whatever we can get... as long as I get to blow up alot of ships along the way, I'm a happy man :)

Just follow the directions and you can have your 32 Capitol Ships

I like to combine Double Cap Ships with 10000 Fleet Cap & 44% Max Penalty.  You can really have some huuuuuge battles

Loving this mod, it's great, but I agree that some ships are just far to powerful

The fighter attack mode of all the ships makes it more annoying than anything, as they seem to spend most of their time flying around in circles and not actually attacking

Not to mention bumping into structures and other ships in the process lol (Good thing there's no damage done when ramming ships/structures eh? heh)

try to send e mail to stardock or somethink....

 

u just have to replayce the curry mesh file in the mod folder und meshes.
