The first thing i noticed when i entered SoSE the first time, there was no real campaign only maps with great replay value wich was great and online/lan feature.

Please do not waste precious resources on campaigns. If anything, spend time creating a campaign editor. The community at large has enough talent that they can produce 10 x the amount of content IC can alone and with considerable quality.
Jusst an opinion here, but i think the "expansion" framework might actually be the way to tell the story, and lay out the campaign, we start with Sins vanilla 1.0 and then move up to upgrades on ships as the war between the Tec, Advent and Vasari get under way, we move incrementally up with tweaks in the ships, in abilities, to the point where we actually begin to "Entrech". Historically on the timeline, this is ten years after the war has started.
Tec and Advent and Vasari have been at this a long time now, with heavy losses and heavy changes in technology, each side now has starbases and heavy anti-structure ships.
"Diplomacy" is coming, and part of the tag says "twenty five years after the war has started, which of course moves us further down the historical timeline. With diplomatic liasons and envoy craft.
Beyond these, is something on the horizon that you or i dont even see yet, but the devs do, and maybe this is how they will do it, not an "all at once" maga campaign expansion, but incrementally, getting there in say, what do they want or forsee? Diplomacy and then Sins2? Or Sins2 and three full sized expansions beyond that? Like WOW or GuildWars?
We already have battle coming out our ears, and so we move by degrees toward other facets of the game, to make it broader and more interesting on different levels. So now we can play the same game in a variety of ways, with different strengths and different emphases.
Maybe down the line, they will hit us with an "In Your Face" all out massive battle assault, where we are almost outstripped in tech and ability and have to hang on with our fingernails to get through a game?

Anyway, my point is ... It might be better to go incremental and tell a broader and bigger and larger story, rather than trying to cram everything into one budget and one expansion to try and fullfill everyone's expectations of what a Sins campaign should be.

you know, now that i looked at the lore section of the the site, the 3 first words implay that there may be more in terms of storyline comming:P the words are "the story so far...." as tho implying that more will be on the way. it's to be expected, there are too many holes in the plot that needs to be filled
Start a thread looking for people who want to seriously RP out an epic SOASE match over the course of many sessions over an indeterminate length of time. I'm pretty sure you'll find you aren't alone, and get some takers. The hard part is just agreeing on a time for the matches.

We have several threads dedicated to this Itharus. Its just seem though its not as popular as one might seem.
That comment was just giving those who have not thought about RP the idea. We dont have a dedicated story, so make your own campaign or story. Thats how I got started in RP with Sins. Just trying to spread the word that its much more enjoyable this way than if we had a dev built campaign. Though I do love me some storybased campaigns!!!!
I would prefer no campaigns in games, but an open way for the community to make them easily. Campaigns are played through once, and then forgotten. The sandbox mode keeps you coming back, and should be the focus of any game. And then, the community could create campaigns with the editor and there would be many choices for good campaigns.
EXACTLY what is needed. I'd really like a campaign, but I honestly don't think the devs can produce one that will satisfy me. Some parts will blow my mind, but other parts would just be plain crappy. (nobody's perfect! tho blair comes close.)
What we need is a campaign editor, so every individual who has a sins story in their head can stop reciting it to themselves as they play a skirmish game but can share their story with the online community. As long as the campaign editor is built well, we could have hundreds of campaigns. thousands.
some of us could buil tutorial campaigns for those who want that.
some could build campaigns that take you step by step through systems, slowly increasing the difficulty and challenge.
some (what i'd be most excited for) would build campaigns to fit the sins stories floating around in their heads, so the community doesn't have to read in words what the person is thinking, but can see, hear, and experience it in a game.
That's what we need. No dev campaign could compare to the hundreds of campaigns that would come out if there was a campaign editor (id even pay $10-15 JUST for a campaign editor for this game. If it was really user-friendly, easy to make all the scripts and triggers, and could do the stuff mentioned above.)

EDIT: also the possibility of creating multiplayer campaigns? i feel that would bring a lot more people to play online. it could be a (i forget the word), but those kind of campaigns where the story changes depending on which side wins. (good wins, this is the cutscene and what happens next. bad wins, this is the cutscene and what happens next.) Anyone know what I'm talking about?
A campaign editor would be a great idea. Let players and modders make the content and it will take off and take on a life of its own. It's great for the developers because people do the work for free and increase their game's value to prospective buyers.
Another thing that would be AWESOME if it was included in a campaign editor. the option to record your actions, kinda like a fraps thing only IN the editor, and make it so that what you record can be triggered as a cutscene. You know, a shot of a ship flying out of exploding debris as your captial trimphantly overcomes the big bad starbase. i no i would actually die (with happiness, a good cause) if something like this was available in a campaign editor. (iv never seen it in any campaign editor for other games tho, and i hav no idea how it would work.)
personally, i would have killed for a third expansion that would have brought a campaign editor but, sadly, it will stop with diplomacy so i don't think there is any hope left to see a campaign editor in sins, as awesome it would have been.
I have to note this-
They said that Diplo was the last MICRO-expansion. Not the last EXPANSION.
I think that they are either 1) planning for a FULL-ON expansion, or 2) planning for Sins 2.
Campaign editor may be in the future.
Well we know that there's going to be a Sins 2, and as whiskey said, there's no more micro-expansions BUT STILL the possibility of full-fledged expansions. Combined with the fact that they could add a campaign editor into an update without having it be an expansion.
