Next Patch -- what needs to go into it?

 

Is it too early to begin talking about what needs to go into the next patch?

I'd like to see a fix so that Entrenchment keybinds and regular Sins keybinds don't compete with one another.  Both games access your uimappings.setting file but use different versiions of the file which are incompatible with one another.  So if you have it set up for Entrenchment, Regular Sins will overwrite it and give you the default--making you reset your keybinds for both Regular and Entrenchment.  (I have mine set for Entrenchment and locked to Read Only so I at least don't have to redo it for Entrenchment every time I load Regular, however I do have to do it for Regular every time.)

One solution would be to change the names of the files with the next patch so that Regular and Entrenchment have their own keybindings file.  (Perhaps the Entrenchment version could be called uimappingsENT.setting.)

Ideally, since you cannot see and seamlessly join Regular games from Entrenchment and vice-versa, I'd like to be able to have both open at one time so that I can see the games for both without having keybind problems.

The Domina's perserverance ability shouldn't be chanelled imo. Charged Missiles needs to get a boost. When the sentinel uses CM, it should work on frigates, not just SC. The skirmisher and enforcer should also get a slight damage boost.

How about fleet icons that you can place AMYWHERE on the screen ala Windows desktop icons?

I'd like to see an ability added to repair bays and individual repair ships (like Hoshikos) where you can set it to target a specific ship or structure and then leave it on autocast.  For example--the repair bay near the starbase could be set to only repair the starbase.  Or 3 Hoshikos could be instructed to only repair the Marza.

Sounds more of an addition for another expansion than a patch.

I have another suggestion; use some of the unused songs in this game's soundtrack. It's a shame playing TEC and only hearing half of their themes.

What about a prioritize target button? So you can force a ship to attack LF, LRF, SC, etc... Maybe not for a patch but for Diplomacy.

This, for sure.  Possibly we could have several different types of autocast:
1) Use only on unit type (having a set of Vasari Overseers dedicated to keeping other Overseers alive or having your Celios target the opponents' repair units)

2) Use only on a designated target

3) Use at the AI's discretion

- What I miss is an option to *always* show gravity wells where hostile units (or structures) are present. Right now, it is possible to unselect something in the middle of a battle and lose the overview for the gravity well it happens in (if it wasn't pinned manually).

- When you select a fleet by clicking on its fleet icon, the fleet leader should be the sub-selected ship. Right now, it seems to be the leftmost ship, which is a problem because if you recreate the fleet afterwards (to add new ships, for example), you change the fleet leader by accident.


Chiming in on some points that were already mentioned:

- Yes, fix the planetary upgrade build order please. It is a pain when it happens, and forces you to "babysit" planets.

- Putting phase-laning fleets to the bottom of the browser would be great and should be easy to do. If they are not noticeable enough there, put them in some fixed other place (e.g., the right side of screen?). After all, they are only temporary hints that PL is in progress.

- The "auto-build for extractors" mentioned would be nice, but not as urgent as the above.

why not a repeat order in general, something like semi auto-cast? you designate a target for the ability and it keeps repeating intelligently (that is, if it makes any sense to repeat on target) until you tell it otherwise. could be useful if you gauss cannon larger targets or if you want to contiunously disable enemies. or nano bomb, or shield recharge, whatever.

Not to presume too much, but I had been under the assumption that work was now focused on Diplomacy - are new patches still in the offing for Vanilla/Entrenchment before that's released?
