To Devs: ICO is an AFK'ers paradise

Maybe I just didn't notice as much before, but it seems like going AFK is becoming much more common on ICO after this latest patch.  What has happened to me twice now is in a team game when only one person from a team is still in the game, even if all his ships and planets are destroyed if he doesn't quit/surrender the game will continue.  This will go on until every single one of his computer allies are destroyed as well.

Shouldn't at some point ICO deem a player "out for the count"?  When he has lost all his planets, cap ships and colony pods maybe?  My last game was with an AFKer, and after hunting down his last hidden scout ship and destroying it, I was surprised to find that the game continued on.  I then had to turn around and destroy his ally's armies and planets even after his ally had disconnected from the game.

Seems like a system designed to promote sore losers, especially when you factor in the large 4v4 and 5v5 games that are common online.    It could take an hour or more to track down and destroy every planet in a huge single system.  Plus in a "gentleman's game" where people actually leave when beat,  the winning team tends to ignore the computer as much as possible in order to attack the enemies still online for the quick win.

But are they AFK or did they get lagged out and disconnected?

I think some people just minimize their Sins game and find something else to do (Internet surfing, loading a game on another CPU core, etc.) out of spite.

Pressing the F5 key will bring you up to the network menu and show you who is connected and disconnected.  No it is simply when people are beat instead of leaving the game they just stay in.  That way if someone gives up they get the win simply for being the last man standing.

Okay. Thanks for the F5 tip. To anyone that does this AFK thing.. You're really lame.

Ive come across these people. Or worse, people who minimize and start downloading stuff, so the game lags horrendously and you cant even really play. Unfortuantely theres not much you can do but either quit or finish the game. Personally I always just finish the game. You don't give them the satisfaction of "beating" you, and they cant play another game until you finish the one youre in. At least then they'll just sit and let that loss fester (instead of joining another game where they might fair better and have more fun). Plus they won't that rematch with you cuz well, I wouldnt want to play with that person again.

What would happen if two afk'ers fought?
