Recommendations?

Ok, so I had tried Sins way back when it was released and haven't played it since.  I got the mass e-mail today about Trinity and thought it's worth a new shot.  I'm rarely one to play a base game though (unless it doesn't have mod support) and so was wondering peoples thoughts on what mods I should look into.

Right now I'm thinking just mods that still let me play the games story (until I get good).  After that, the sky is the limit!  I did see that Star Trek mod briefly when I came to post this, that looks pretty interesting.  I'm likely thinking that I'll have to wait until some of the mods get updated to work with Trinity, yeah?  Ok, thanks everyone!

Umm, you realize there really isn't much of a story. There isn't a single-player campaign or anything. Just maps

(I know, I'm disappointed by the lack of campaign too)

Both Star Wars and Star Trek mods add different experiences to the game. They are really well done (though not complete) but encourage anyone to try them out.

I recommend two things

First, if you already have the original game of sins then it is cheaper to buy each expansion by itself (each one cost $10 for a grand total of $20) as opposed to buying Trinity which cost $40. Trinity merely allows new players to get everything at once

Second here is a great mod that makes changes on research and adds planets but overall gameplay is still the same
Distant Stars

And yes its Diplomacy/Trinity ready

I like how you guys are always only refering to your own mod xD

Ontopic: I haven't tried a lot of mods so I can't give any recommendations, but there is great varity of them. You can try and look through the moddb section for some of them or try the mods liberary on the official sins of a solar empire downloadpage.

What can I say, its a pride issue

plus alot of the others either are either no longer being serviced (Mad Scientist) or are now in the dust bin of the past (Like alot in the mods library)
