wake4 here is a outline of what to do
1 create a mod folder in your mods-v1.191/mods-entrenchment v1.051/mods-diplomacy v1.011 folder with the name of your mod
2a then copy (for sins ONLY) the entire gameinfo, mesh,particle,string,textureanimations,textures & window folders from your game installed location into your mod's folder
2b if modding entenchment OR diplomacy copy the .manifest files to the mods folder, then make a Gameinfo folder in your mod's folder, and copy FROM the expansion's gameiinfo folder under sins program folder, the entity files you want to change, and from the expansion's mesh folder the ships mesh files
3 download and extract and run either my textbin gui or bcextreme's and convert all the files in the mod to text
4 edit the entity files that yu want to change, and in the example you gave also edit the meshes to add the weapon points in each side of the mesh( I have not done any modeling in sins so can not advise how to)
5 test the mod in the developer build exe to see what problesm happen and try to fix them.
and appantly sins assumes that if there is a weapon then the ship WILL chase after the targets it is best against so it might be better for the carriers to not have a weapon.
