Should I reinstall...and buy the expansions?

Hi

 

I (casually) played a fair bit of Sins (vanilla) a while back, then I got a new computer. Once I got up and running, I never got back around to playing Sins (I blame Forged Alliance...  !)...Anyway, I'm flirting with the idea of reinstalling Sins plus getting one, or both of the expansions - I was thinking along the lines of Entrenchment...should I?

 

My questions -

1) One of the many things I loved about my original experience with Sins was Bailknight's graphics mod, which made laying waste to a behemoth of a Capital ship a visual delight. Can you inform me as to which version of Sins (vanilla) and Entrenchment I need in order to use any graphics mod now?

Sorry, but I'm superficial, pretty lights and colours do a lot for me... \o/

 

2) Should I get both, or neither, of the mods? (they're about £13 for both of them here.)

 

3) Should I just go on playing forged alliance...haha

i realy like the game... Entrenchment greatly boost the gameplay... Its much more fun than the vanilla version. Diplomacy is a nice expansion if u play larger maps and u want hard pirates. On large maps with teammates diplomacy can greatly expand your empire. More fleetpoint, more money, more armour and so on. You can get this things if u make pacts with other players. Most fun for me is to play 2vs2 or 1vs1 on ironclad online :)

I suggest all three basically Diplomacy because you get the Pacts.  Entrenchment is a must for Starbases...  Run it with DS you can find the mod on the mod tab.  They integrate a few smaller mods and it give much more bells and whistles for your liking.  I love the game.  However if your going to buy anything again Vanilla and Entrenchment are a must.

Thats just what I needed to know - I think I can get distant stars to work with Entrenchment - but will it work with Vanilla?

No the current DS version for Vanilla is not up to date.

is it possible to download and update vanilla sinse to 1.16 and then apply the DS mod - or will this not work?

Nope. you cant update to a older patch. If you want to play DS for Vanilla you have to wait till we go back and update it. Not a priority for us, but it will happen later.

The Entrechment/Diplomacy version is better anyhow, there is more we can do/did with it, than vanilla.

Safe I recommend you at least get entrenchment for the SB's they are quiet awesome, + DS mod = awesome+1 :)

 

 

Also Safe check under the modding tab and goto Distant Stars and there will be more people there that have the mod how can answer your questions about it, as some dont read the general tab
