New System is a No Show

Hi everyone..I just bought Trinity and am hooked...Downloaded and created a System with Galaxy Forge..I saved the system in Galaxy, Entrencment and in Diplomacy but it only shows up in Sins...I downloaded the Map Converter also but it shows the updated file for Trinity ( 1.19 Verson and it wants an older 1.15 or 1.05 I guess to work...How do I get these systems I want to create to appear in ALL Three Chapters????

Thanks...Be Gentle...I am new here...LOL

You have to put it in a different galaxy forge folder for the expansions (well without editting any game files). It is in the same folder as the mod folders if you know where that is. For XP it is

C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\Mods-Entrenchment v1.051

Harpo will probably be here in a minute to paste the whole set of instructions lol.

here is the standard advice that works

assuming you have sins 1.191/entrenchment 1.051/diplomacy 1.011,  the galaxy forge maps NEED to be placed here for xp
C:\Documents and Settings\'user name'\Local Settings\Application Data\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\GalaxyForge

or here for vista/windows 7
C:\Users\'user name'\AppData\Local\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\GalaxyForge.

for sins 1.15/entrenchment 1.01 and earlier, the correct location IS the program files \galaxy folder, and you also NEED to edit the entrenchment's galaxy.manifest to include the maps and also the total count of maps

NOTE the first two folders after the 'user name' are hidden , so to see them you must first click on 'tools' then 'folder options', then 'view', then click on 'show hidden files& folders' then click ok, then you will be able to browse your want to the folder. I suggest when you find the folder that you create a shortcut to it on the desktop

NOTE 2 the 'user name' in the above paths is your WINDOWS login user name, eg Administrator

also the galaxy forge maps in the local apps galaxyforge folder only show up in the galaxy forge tab of map types in sins 1.16+/entrenchment 1.02+

if the map IS a galaxy forge and giving the instant win/loss screen then MAKE sure that EACH player has a home planet and is not for a particular mod that has extra home planets and stars

and if a map you want to play was released before 25th feb 2009 then you will also need the sins map updater from here
http://files.filefront.com/sins+map+updater+v201rar/;13585432;/fileinfo.html.

there is a seond type of map which SHOULD be placed in the mapdesigner folder, you can tell if it is by the eight line reading 'randomizeStartingPositions TRUE', if this line is FALSE then it is a gamaxyforge map and could be in an older map format. the current map format version is 3 this can be seen in line two of the file. if the map is a version 0,1 or 2 then the map updater will mak it playable in current versions and expansions

Yep, Worked, Thanks...Next Issue is how do I, in Galaxy Forge, increase the number of mineable asteroids around a planet or large Planet Asteroid, Asteroid Belt, etc. etc..allt the same???

End of BigKev56's quote

Sadly, you can't do that with just the galaxy forge. The amount of resource asteroids are defined by the planet type, not the map (which is all galaxy forge creates). If you want to increase the number of asteroids you will have to make a small mod to do so.

If you are interested in doing that, then is it something you will only want to occur on one planet or do you mind if you increase the resource asteroids on all planets of that type?

All planets of that type is fine, the knowledge of how to do it is what I seek, I thought there was a place where each individual planet could be manipulated but I have yet to find any file that shows the Min / Max data that I'm looking for in the already included scenarios...Anyway, a general approach is fine til I gain more knowledge on modding..Thanks

bigkev the planetTYPE.entity file is what YOU need to alter the asteroids for the planet type. if you add planet types, then you also need to add the new planetTYPE.entity files to the manifest AND GalaxyScenarioDef so that they will show up on the various planet classes eg random , wieghted colonisable etc, and it is a good idea to place the files you alter in a mod's gameinfo folder.

Note that Harpo is assuming you know how to get workable versions of the game files and how to put those files in a mod. If you don't, just say what version of Sins you have and I'll make a little guide later when I have more time if Harpo hasn't done it already.

actually you can get texted reference files from my sins reference files (if you want the mod to be for diplomacy, then download all three, if for entrenchment then just download the entrenchment & sins, if for sins just the sins) thread OR with my textbin gui, and for the manifests there is my manifest maker and other utilities in my modding utilities pack which is in the mod updater thread.
