Anyway, I've just begun to play around with Sins and I'm hoping it is less RTS-y and more TBS-y, but we'll see.
Sins takes a lot of its inspiration from turn based strategy, and it brings out the best of its own genre, but it's still a real time strategy game, simply by virtue of being real time.
I personally think a lot of the "click-fest" accusations of the RTS genre are unfounded. They've been repeated so often that they're now accepted as a truism (not that the so-called "pro-gamer" scene has helped...) but if you actually sit down and compare the novices and the veterans, they're both clicking about the same speed. The difference is really that the veterans are making better moves.
So far I'm finding getting started a bit challenging because there's so much information and I don't yet know what is important and what isn't. The tutorials didn't really help that much, so I'm going to do a read through of the manual and a scan of the forums for more advice.
