I'm assuming you'll be releasing the other two in the future.  Will they be available as an all-in-one package deal once all 3 have been released?

On Triumph's website, they refer to it as the "Age of Wonders Trilogy" which is why I'm asking.

While on the subject of old games... any chance we'll ever see Master of Magic on Impulse?  After all Master of Orion showed up on Impulse and that's now "published" by Atari.

Oh look...

Sorry, wasn't difficult to guess. O:)

Did someone forget to uncheck/check a box to publish those pages to the public? :P

Since launch date I have put Elemental on the shelf, until the 1.08 patch at least.  Since launch I dusted off my copy of Age of Wonders II: The Wizard's throne.  I tried to get into that game several times but could not quite do it, with 50-60 hours of work, family etc....

Having spent the last few days playing this game all I can say in summary is ... Excellent!  On the 3rd campaign mission now.  It was a bit hard to get into, but after playing around a bit its a blast.

Also it makes me even more excited to get Elemental up to speed.  I see many similarities to AOW and elemental.  Should be exciting to see what Stardock can do with elemental, and I can see it being a classic as well. AOW battles are fun, game play is smooth.  Can't wait to see Elemental up to par and fixed.

Shadow magic is very hard to find. Used games go for around $60, and new in the box well over $100 on ebay.  Been trying to find this game for years.  Excited to see it on impulse for $10!

Anyhow if you have not yet played AOW I would highly recommend it as a companion, in addition to, Elemental.  You can never own too many games like this!

Is there any point in getting AoW and AoW II? I remember playing the original and liking it tremendously, then buying the second one, which at that time in vanilla form I found quite difficult and with a bit less charming (bland city management screen - you could see the buildings in the original). AoW:SM appears to be what people are still playing, so I'm just wondering if there is any reason to get the first two games other than their story or the "collector aspect".

Yeah, it is hard to find.  Seen it for $45, $60, and $200 or so in different places.  I just can't bring myself to pay more than $20 for an older game.  Would love to get it if it comes cheaper someday.  At any rate thanks for the advice, I may very well pick this game up, perhaps X-mas time.

Maybe they didn't want it to cut into WOM sales? =P

I Tried very hard to play MoM a few weeks ago.  I tried to ignore the seriously outdated graphics.  I really did.  And finally I came to the conclusion that I just needed to let it gently die, and forever remember when it was my favorite game at one point in my life.  I guess I am not into "antique" games anymore.

I played it just this Sunday...

A common mistake is to go full screen on a current monitor. True full screen on 19"+ it looks like crap.

The game is really only 640x480 so what I do is force a resolution of 800x600 on my 19" screen and have the game displayed centered in that area - with a black border around it.

Then the graphics look a lot better because you can't see every single pixel any more.

I'm wondering the same thing.  If it's not released as a "trilogy" or a package deal, then would it be recommended to just buy the 3rd one - that being AoW: Shadow Magic?

Can anyone verify if AoW: SM is actually downloadable and playable yet? It seems like they're only advertising the first one.

The link to Shadow Magic is there, and an option to purchase it, did not try to purchase yet.  Went way over my game budget for this week .... and next week as well LOL

I'm kind of surprised that AoW 1 has fans, I played if for the first few patches and my memories of it were that the AI and balance were so bad as to make MoM look good. AoW 2 on the other hand I actually liked.

good find.lol

Im played SM and loved ittttttt.

Any point on playing the previous ones. Heard good things about part 1. But seems SM is the one that put together the best of everything

The first one is fairly diffrent from the other two; Wizard's Throne is a lesser version of Shadow Magic with a diffrent campaign.

There still are people that play AoW and AoW:SM (Wizard's Throne is not played much, unless it is the campaign).

I would suggest people that get the game visit Age of Wonders Heaven and Age of Wonders II Heaven to find people to play with in multiplay, maps, and mods (particularly the unofficial 1.4 patch and Age of Wonders I mod for Shadow Magic).

The release date on the Wizard's Throne and Shadow Magic pages show that they have not been released yet; which matches what I hear from one of the developers (he said the others would be coming soon).

Can anybody confirm/deny if we can download and play Shadow Magic if i buy it now using that link? And if so is it legal? Thanks! :-)

I just bought Age of Wonders and Age of Wonders Shadow Magic. Shadow Magic downloaded, installed, and ran fine.

It works.  It's probably not supposed to be there yet, but it works.

I just purchased Age of Wonders - Shadow Magic [http://impulsedriven.com/aowsm]. :')

It's now inevitable that it will be available as a package in the future... ;P

I just hope that when I get home that I don't see both this and the 1.08 patch for Elemental available.  That's going to be a terrible dilemma.

I just bought Age of Wonders Trilogy Pack [http://www.impulsedriven.com/products/ESD-IMP-W701].

All 3 games work great.

Seriously?!  Only took 2 hours after I made the purchase to find out it's available as a package.  I so knew that was going to happen.

I understand wanting to spread out the announcements, but would have been nice to offer the Trilogy as an option right away. :annoyed:

So...  for anyone who has purchased an individual AoW game, can we send an email to Stardock support to get a refund if we purchase the Trilogy?

I completely missed age of wonders somehow... pretty surprised I did as well.  If I'm new to the series, should I just start with 2 for the best experience?

oh its on GOG too.

They dont have you sign on to play

I missed it as well.  I was probably sucked into some MMO completely oblivious to other games at the time it came out. /shrug

From what I gather, if you were to choose one, it should be AoW:Shadow Magic.  It sounds like AoW2 was a step back.  Like you, I don't have previous experience with any, that's just what I gather from what I've read.

Shadow Magic is really the only one that holds up at all, and then you need the fan-patch mod (on http://aow2.heavengames.com)

AOW1 has charm and nice music (which is in that mod), but gameplay aged horribly.

The AI is terribad also, it's a good MP game though.
