Foundation Mod

Has anyone made a mod that's like Asimov's Foundation books where you are technologically superior, and its only humans and stuff?

I am trying to do some sort of hard scify mod.

The mod rules (hard scifi science restrictions) will be based on a free rpg called Vanguard Free Roleplaying. (this book rpg is free but the website is down) a hard scifi rpg book.

The mod will not be a Vanguard Free Roleplaying full convertion mod, I will only get the science restrictions of the rpg and put on my mod.

Remember this is not a vanguard mod, and so will not use the ships damage values, speed values from rpg. I am using the rpg as a base to get the science limitations. If you want to create a full vanguard mod just do it.

Also, on this mod I will only remove soft scifi things from the game. I will not remove gamey things like, getting scuttle money without needing to send the ship parts to planet, the 1 startbase limit per player instead of 10 starbases limit per all players or tatics and logistic slots.

More this game will be only a edit mod. I will not add more things to the mod (ships, starbases...), unless they are part the things that make the changes. The game will not be balanced after I make the changes, this is more a experimental mod to see how it would work after the changes, if tec and advent aren't balanced after the changes they will stay in that way.

I dont have a thread for this mod yet, will create one after I start to do have some progress in this mode.

What it will have:

1-No smart aliens:

-Sorry vasari. Bye bye.

2- No sound in space:

-Ships and etc.... doenst emit sound.

3-Phase jump doenst exist (ie. faster way of travelling that couldn't be used at other times), unless using wormholes.

-No phase jump inibitors

-Ship phase jump with the same speed as in his max gravit well speed.

-All ships can phase jump.

-No need to wait to phase jump.

-No anti matter cost to phase jump.

-No upgrade needed to phase jump to other stars.

-Can phase from a gravity well to any other Gravity Well.

-Can only phase jump (ie. faster travel to another place) using wormholes.

4- Bigger range radar needed (Needed to create space route and detect space objects on rpg)

-You will start the game with a bigger range radar.

5-No shields

-Ships, starbases... will not have shields.

so basicly your mod will make the game have no sound and there will be one faction? that sounds fun.

This mod is a experimental mod. I want to see how it will be in the end.

Also it will not have only the race limitation + no sound, you also have the no shield, radar and phase jump changes. And also other changes I make in the future.

Advent aren't aliens by the way.

Forgot about that.

From my recollection of the Foundation series, there wasn't much detail in ship to ship combat (or any combat for that matter).  Although it's been a few years (ok decades) since I've read them.

i think your "phase jump to any planet" idea is possible,  but you would have to give every ship and planet in the game the phasegate ability. like the one the kostura has.

Or make every single planet spawn with an invulnerable phase gate that works for all factions (aka. Enemy, Friendly, Neutral).

yeah that would work much better....maybe like an ancient hypergate type thing.

I like that ancient phase gate idea, you could have disjointed planetary groups within a very...very.. large system and not know exactly where you're headed....mnn..but you'd have to see where you're going, and no phase lane = no vision of next destination, damn...I killed my own happy moment -.-;;
