Just curious... are you playing sins or entrenchment or diplomacy ?
You see, sins is a 32 bit and windows OS have a limit of 2gb ram for a application... a lot of minidump are due to the game hitting these limit in a long game...
Everything is become more smooth with one of the last diplomacy patch who include Stardock engine optimization along some optimization from the TSOP mod... unfortunaly, not all of these optimization have be included/ported for the original sins or Ent... so, be sure to use diplomacy for the max performance...
...however when we try and play a large map with more than 1 star we seem to get 3 or so hours into the game then we experience a minidump...
...It would seem that the possibility is that once there is too many units in the game its crashing, however for a game that markets on 4X it seems to be a bit ridiculous to not be able to finish any games that arent on small or medium maps.
Believe me, the game is able to handle a lot... i usually use a custom map with 10 star system, with over 350 planet and 20 pirates bases... along with a huge mod who allow to chose 10 different races ( sins limit ) between a lot more of them... add to this some little personal modification who allow a max of 128 starbase ( http://www.love-from-russia.be/g4_swarm-6.25_million_poly.avi ) in a gravity wheel, who greatly increase the amount of capitalship who can be build and fleet supply...
Sure, the sins game have limit but the iron engine is so strong that work around allow to make plenty of thing who are say to be impossible ( working on a animated model and on a other the model with over 150k poly now, only for show that it is possible )...
Point is that a lot of people don't have any problem with sins, that a lot of people are able to finish a game...
Simply follow the Yarlen advice, send your dump to Stardock... it have already happen that they found a bug who only hit a fraction of % of player and solve it...
But if you was using any mod, don't bother to send a dump file to stardock... try a game using the dev exe file and send the log to the people who have made the mod...
