Corvettes idea

I had an idea to make corvettes more convenient cannon fodder (right now i think they are too weak). what if we had titans be able to build them like strikcraft, except still have them cost resources and pop cap. Maby even have the carrier cap ships be able to build them. In luie of this perhaps a special new ship that could do this. I understand they are usful in large groups as swarming cannon fodder, but if you are no where near a factory in enemy territory they can be a pain in the ass to rebuild the whole squadron. The other other alternative, would be to have them build a a 3 or 4 ship squad (like infantry in ground rts, that way it easier to replace them and build them in larger numbers, just make them cost more than current.

that would be nice! Regardless of what their final purpose is I really think they should be based/built by other ships, the titan would be a good one.  

 However I'm not entirely convinced they should be just cannon fodder. They should have a real tactical purpose!  Perhaps the ability to target/disable certain subsystems/weapons on larger ships.  Plus maybe the could have a signficant amount to speed so that they could get behind the enemy lines and ravage them from the back. 

 

 At the very least give them fairly powerful weaponry but lower shields/armor and much more powerful speed.  Just cannon fodder sounds like a waste.

What you describe here is pretty much what Corvettes are right now. Though they will inevitably draw a lot of fire because of the way they move.

I do think they need a bit of a boost in weapons, though not much since they are supposed to be a massed danger. I do thing they need a naturally lower chance to be hit, that way if they are they die, but its hard to hit them in the first place. Would make sense for how they move

I'm excited about the possibilities (haven't gotten the better yet but I've been watching videos of rebellion). I just hope they don't just phone it in on the corvettes.
