Cannot load save games after v1.04 update

Hi,

 

I purchased and downloaded through Sins Rebellion through Steam a week ago.  This morning Steam told me the game needed to be converted, then proceeded to do some downloading.  When I launch the game I now get: "Save game if from an older version of Sins and cannot be loaded" for all my saves.


I'm on v 1.04.4397.  Hopefully this gets fixed very soon, otherwise you may want to disable auto updates on the Steam Client.

They specifically told up 2 months ago that the 1.04 patch was going to break save games.   For this patch they made some engine changes which are incompatible with earlier save games.

 

Sucks when you lose a save I know, but we had lots of forewarning.

Stardock actually has been warning people for more than a month that the next patch would break saves (and in fact delayed releasing it so that people would know), and we've known since last week at least that it would come today. Of course since you got the game recently you probably did not see any of that.

Sorry for the bad luck, and yes, disabling auto updates in steam is always a good idea.

Sigh, thanks.  No I only just bought the game, and this is my first visit to the forums so didn't know about any of this.  I even got an email today about the patch, but with no info about save games breaking.

I'll start again then!

Also know that a lot of big updates like this one will break game saves...not much you can do than to start a new game. But yeah they'll warn you ahead of time if the next update will do this or not.

Its best to just assume that any patch that is released will break save games and break mod compatibility.  That way when a patch doesn't do one of those two things you can be pleasantly surprised.
