Upgrading existing unit's number per stack (e.g. group->company)

Hi, is it possible to upgrade the number of men in a unit that has been out in the field and gained experience already?

 

Is it possible for units to upgrade via adding mounts?

No, unfortuntely not. You will have to train new units.

Do tamed creatures gain XP and higher levels? If not why not?

Yes, all units gain XP and higher levels if they survive and are in winning battles.  But only Sovs, Champions, Henchmen and Sions get new traits when they gain a level.
