A little survey ship bug (I assume)

In a gigantic game I am playing, the survey module is not working on lost surveyors. They are just explorers

Yeah, I've found that too. They're still really useful for charting new territory (and mebby as strategic combat scouts too actually), cos their sensor range is massive. But if they're not meant to survey anomalies (and that might make them a bit unbalanced tbh, given the incredible sensor range), they should be renamed scouts. I wasted several turns worth of moves when I found one before I realised the survey module didn't work

On the other hand, I just found another one and it does seem to have a working survey module :/ Or at least it has an automated survey option, which the first one didn't

I have hit this issue as well.  Found a survey ship that didn't survey.   But it did have agreat range on it for sensors.

same here the first survey ship i found did not in fact have a survey module on it however it did show that it was capable of surveying on the strategic map (3 semicircles infront of the design)

Yes, change the name as they can not investigate anomalies, but do keep them--for the really big maps I love having their sensor range. It really speeds up exploring all that space frees me up to do other things that are more fun.

I had this happen too.  However, soon after I found that survey ship, my game CTD.  When I reloaded from the autosave, and the survey ship was found again, it magically had the survey module.  It seems like it's a bug in the ship spawn code.

I've have this happen also. For me, the work around is to research Survey Module, and then upgrade them. Then they work great.

Note that Beta 4 greatly increased all ship "module" components' masses.  They went from mass 5 (ridiculously light) to mass 40-50 each.  You can't even build an early double-ctor any more because the 2nd ctor module doesn't fit.

So maybe a "survey module" also got huge(r) in mass, and no longer fits the old survey ship designs.  Maybe that causes the ship-generator function to just omit the survey module.
