Anyone familiar with a nice little RTS game called Rusted Warfare? I found about it fairly recently, about 2 months ago, when it got randomly offered to me by Steam.
Anyway, its a game similar to Supreme Commander, its pretty much indie version of it in 2D graphics - cause apparently, its not only PC, but Android game too. There are notable differences against SupCom, like the economy works more like in CnC games, where you can build things only with money on you account, but otherwise...you build factories, extractors, fabricators, turrets... and then produce tanks, mechs, planes, ships, massive experimental units...there are nukes and anti-nukes as well...
Here is some gameplay vid:
While the gameplay is decent to play already in its vanilla state, i guess that would be not much reason to buy it over the likes of SupCom, since its pretty much its clone... it has one very nice feature though, which is the main reason why i got it - it has integrated Steam Workshop and allows very easy modding.
That´s a massive thing for people, who dont want just to play, but create something on their own, but dont have all those necessary skills to make games on their own, or even to do some more excessive and complex modding... RW modding is really, really easy - both, when it comes to graphics (which is 2D sprite based) and "programming" - which is all about creating your own INI file with all the needed data for your custom unit, then placing it into mod folder and voila - its in the game (unless you made some mistake).
I tried to mod the game myself, turn it into Star Trek themed game - and while its far from ready, i think i was kinda succesful.
Here is the hoping Ashes of Singularity is going to provide similarly easy way to mod the game, allowing total conversions into space based game.
