Achievement Weirdness

I thought I posted something before, but it doesn't seem to exist, so I'mma keep this short out of laziness.

A) Star Explorer seems to be buggy, I've complained about that before though so whatever.

B) Pop Idol also seems buggy, as I've covered an entire galaxy in my culture and not gotten it. Weird.

C) Does the description of Archaeologist mean you have to own all the artifacts in the galaxy, or do you have to own at least one of each of the nine artifacts at once to get it? I'm assuming the latter since I've gotten all the planets in a galaxy to 100% exploration before and not gotten the achievement, but it could be buggy or something.

D) Space ponies woo~

EDIT: Also, since it's way, way too minor to get its own topic, there's a typo in the TEC's Timed Explosives research -- missing an "ing", specifically.

Star Expolorer worked fine for me.

After several tries I found out that Culture percentage caps out at 50% every game, so you can't achieve "Pop Idol", has to be a bug.

Archaeologist needs the 9 different artifacts, so the map has to be pretty big, since there can be several artifacts of the same type on a map and you have to be lucky having all 9, at least from my experience.

From another topic I made:

I played a single-player game when I first started up the game, a simple 1v1 versus an AI on a single-star map. I won. Yay! Then I looked at my achievements, and discovered I had Star Explorer -- without every playing on a map with more than one star. Eh wot?

Seems buggeh to meh.

Also, out of excessive laziness to create another topic and a desire to throw these out there:

A) TEC Refinery Ships and Trade Ships, when upgraded with Civilian Safety Act, have two armor entries in their tooltip. This is really weird.

B) When you have too many squadrons (more than can fit on screen?) in all the units selected, the tooltip for the Squadron Management button explodes. Well, not literally, but it does mess up.

C) There's a typo in the TEC's Immense Cargo Holds research.

I'm also wondering about the Pop Idol bug since my games do the same thing... a max of 50% culture.

while on the topic of achievements i would like to go slightly off topic.

Does completing any of the achievements give you any bonuses other then the bragging rights to to post screen shots showing you found space ponies?

You get Achievements by watching replays where another players gets them. I got the Swarm that way.

Pretty sure I know what you're talking about and it's not a bug. The yellow entry is their actual armor rating. The green text is counting as a bonus modifier from the research showing you what it's adding to the base value. Much like antimatter regeneration, shield restoration, etc.

As for typos, there's a misspelling in one of the Vasari fleet logistics upgrades where 'Seized' is spelled 'Siezed'. Not sure how to let the devs know so hopefully they'll pass by this thread.

LOL must be for those real under achievers

Do you actually get a planet through Culture. I completely iso'd a enemy planet and never got it in 3hrs so just bombed it. Culture is shitty - only works for the AI lol

What exactly do you guys mean when you say a "max of 50% culture"? Where does it display this figure?

Nope. Though you've gotta admit, that's a hell of a bonus. ;)

...I'm not certain about this, since I'm not bothering to check right now, but I'm pretty sure the armor value simply displayed twice. Not as a buff, in green or anything, just another armor listing a few lines down from the first. Maybe later I'll go take a screenshot.

Well, we could always email them.

Do you know what the tech is called, so we can have a detailed listing of typos in case they wander by? ;)

As far as I know, culture can only render planets neutral, not actually capture them for your own use.

yeah, pop-idol is broken for me, also.

I did a huge random map (like 110 planets?), and before I finished I checked that I had a broadcast centre on every planet. I didn't get the achievement. I also checked on a 9 planet 1v1 map, again with a BC on all but the final planet.

Similarly, I have three times done a huge random map, exploring all the planets. It is not guaranteed that all the artifacts will exist somewhere, so it's a bit of luck as to whether it can be achieved. Each time I have had more than 9 artifacts, but one or more of them are repeated.

I can say, though, that it must need you to have all 9 at once. I have discovered all 9 separately, in different games, but not got the achievement.

I got space ponies though :D

On top of that, 1 or 2 hostile media centers will "protect" the planet from culture flipping, even against vastly superior numbers of centers. (Which is not the same thing as saying they produce more culture -- only that the "native" culture is strong enough to prevent the planet from being flipped, but the hostile culture is still spreading "outward" from that planet -- meaning that if other planets don't have that protection, they might get flipped).

When you quit or a game ends you can select one of the categories on the left (I'm not sure which... Planet or Empire maybe?) and then choose something like total culture, which shows the breakdown of culture spread throughout the galaxy.

Fourth.

You just find them while exploring planets, just like artifacts or other random goodies.

I'm lucky to get 1 or 2 artifacts out of trying every map in the entire game. seems artifacts for me at least, are very difficult to find.

Is there a special notification when you do so? I would hate to miss out on it.
Also, is it a specific map or random?
