We definitely have the arcade style combat in there. BTW, we keep Paul and Fred (the creators of Star Control) updated on the game's progress. They have been very supportive. I also want to correct something I saw: Again, disclaimer, I am not a lawyer. But my position is that Stardock doesn't have the legal rights to the original lore either. Or, if we did, we have long since refuted those rights. The Star Control classic lore are the copyright

Ever wondered what Sins of the Solar Empire might be like on the surface of a planet? Would you be interested in help shape the world's first 64-bit, DirectX 12 RTS? Head over to https://www.ashesgame.com and check out what we're doing in Ashes of the Singularity.
Servo is currently in pre-alpha so the graphics are very very rough. That said, by all means, we welcome feedback.
64-bit won't show up until a Sins II. In the nearer term, the big news is Tachyon which we're building to provide a better MP experience. In short: We listened to the feedback on MP and put together a plan to address it and are now executing on it.
Sins, by the nature of its maps, has the ability to have random maps in MP. I don't know how many of you saw that we hired the guy who helped make Battle.net for Blizzard but that was recently announced and he's leading the team that's going to be building the backend to allow us to make sure our games have a much better meta experience. So for instance, what I'd like to see with Sins is that players can optionally press a button and have it find another person
Nothing too new to report. We'll have a Founder's Vault going shortly with some NDA access to the prototype. Best way to describe gameplay right now is MULE on steroids. :)
Just a quick update. I've checked in my code to QA. They're going through it. Some issues I'll have to look at (there's a race condition in my new battle rank code I'll have to evaluate). With any luck, the final LH 1.7 should be out this month.
My guess is that there's a plugin or something that's not functioning right. Are you running, for instance, the weather object?
Anyhooo. I very much like the iPad Air. I have lots of other tablets as well and the Air is my favorite thus far. I also have a Kindle Fire HDX (the one that just started shipping yesterday) on order so I'll let you know how they compare. What is surprising for me is just how much lighter the Air is than previous iPads. I do a lot of my surfing in the evening in my comfy chair and I can tell you the weight difference is noticeable.
Mainly, our desire is to create a space adventure game like we saw with Star Control 2. I think there's a lot of people out there who would like to see a adventure/RPG that takes place in space rather than yet another swords and sorcery style adventure. In Star Control 2, you got this amazing map of the galaxy with thousands of stars, each with its own planet and on those planets were resources, quests, and other interesting things that today, with modern hardware, we can
I've written on this topic recently: http://www.littletinyfrogs.com/article/445624/Climate_modeling_continues_to_fail I fall into the skeptic camp. I've been following this debate since I was in college (now over 20 years ago). For all the smugness I've witnessed on the issue, I continue to be astounded that no one seems to remember that very specific predi
The question is, why such a small building needs 2 stairways? Anyway, its good to hear about your financial success. Hopefully that means more Sins in the future.
It's 25,000 square foot. Also has an elevator. ;)
I know the team is hard at work on new stuff. This year is going to have a lot of new Sins: Rebellion stuff.
Quoting Frogboy, reply 135But it really bugs me when I see people suggest that those who don't like Windows 8 are just afraid of change or haven't given it a try. With a minor few exceptions, you being one of them, most of the people bitching here do fall in to the category of "afraid" or "not tried it properly". (as was stated in #136) Oh, on a side note. You can pin a folder t
Unfortunately, it is our policy not to comment on ongoing litigation. I'm going to lock this thread as the forum is owned by Stardock and thus is not an ideal place for discussion of lawsuits that involve us.
Without a system like this we would have no way to provide discounts to people who bought in a certain time frame. Let me give you an example: People who bought Elemental: War of Magic, in 2010 get Fallen Enchantress for free. But if you bought War of Magic in 2011, the price goes up to something like $20. How are we able to do that given all the different places people have bought the game? The answer is the system you're talking about above. It'
Pro tip: Calling the developers "morons" not cool.
"the multiplayer vastly improved." Well...
Play the released version MP. That's what most of beta 3 was about, making MP rock solid in huge, long games.
Has to do with the way random numbers are generated on different processors. Non-trivial.
The forum isn't here for you to troll.
At long last, June 12th is just about here! It's hard to believe how long we've (us and the Sins community) have been working on this. Back at the start, June 2012 seemed impossibly far away. But we wanted to make sure Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion was just right. Each new faction, each new ship and titan, each new victory condition got plenty of spot light in their own beta releases. We wanted to make sure the updated graphics engine looked amazing but also
Whichever faction I lose to is over powered. I usually play as TEC. Therefore, the Vasari and Avent are overpowered. They should all be nerfed. Except when I play as Advent and lose to TEC and Vasari. They need to be nerfed.
TEC TEC TEC TEC!
We read all the posts. We print the better ones out and discuss them internally.
I'll see what I can do. What's different about Stardock / Ironclad is that, thanks to the Internet, we're constantly connected. So that source code, graphics, and other assets flow. So when I look at a ship or an effect or what have you, I honestly can't tell you who did it. And it's not just on the programming side. Ironclad does a lot of marketing-level stuff that normally are related to the publisher. Even this website, I'm not sure
