Don´t have time to test out all maps atm but figured I would check foreign invasion then, and it doesn´t have fixed starting locations in 2v2v2 at least
Every 3v3 game I've ever played on it the teams have been close together. I don't know about 2v2v2. I never play with teams like that.
I kinda wish they put "Really Long Games" on the box
That's kind of what 4x implies....
There are maps with fixed starting location. Like Fulcrum....and Foreign Invasion....
After playing only a handful of games me and two friends played a 3v3, locked teams, against Hard AI. We won effortlessly. We didn't lose any cap ships in the process, we lost very few frigates/cruisers, and none of our planets were ever seriously threatened. That was too easy to be enjoyable. It was inevitable that we'd be able to handle the Hard AI sooner or later, but I didn't expect it to happen so soon. Now, one obvious option for us is to play against more co
I am counting moons around saturn and jupiter, as some of them are size and mass of the earth or either pretty close.
No, not really. The largest moon in the solar system is Jupiter's Ganymede which is only about 1/40th as massive as the earth, or 1.4819 × 10^23 kg vs 5.9736 × 10^24. However, your point is still valid. The OP suggests that stars could have numbers of planets which are more "real", but this game takes into account things which don't meet the tec
How about simply letting the computers offer multiple missions but you only have to complete one? For example, let's say Player A says "I have a mission for you." but when you go to the diplomacy screen it will show multiple missions Player A is offering. You could select "Kill 15 ships of Player B" or "Kill 5 tactical structures of Player C". While you'd have to complete one of them in order to gain any benefit, or to keep from being on their bad side, it would at least give you a ch
The ideas here are bound to be implemented in the game. They make sense and there's a whole background of gaming experience that supports its use.
I hope so.
Agreed. Some of those are already implemented in other 4x games, and I'm not sure why this game couldn't support it. (Though the Diplomacy idea is already implemented, as mentioned.) Seems this idea is getting little interest though. But so far it's my biggest issue with the game. I guess I'm just used to games like Civilization and Galactic Civilization while this game attempts to be more like an RTS as far as achieving victory. If the devs don't like this idea hopefully t
The mission system could certainly be better. The two suggestions I've liked the best: 1) Make it a two-way street. You should be able to give your own missions. If you're significantly more powerful than the computer it should dearly want to be on good terms with you. 2) Make more interesting missions. I liked the idea of having to kill a specific capital ship. Of course the mission giver should have some idea of where the ship currently is and should provide
I'm always a fan of alternate victory conditions. However since the people at IC have obviously been exposed to games with alternate victory conditions it doesn't strike me that this is an issue that they just forgot about. Must be some reason it's not in the game. Maybe, for whatever reason, it wouldn't "work" in this game. Maybe they plain don't like anything but extermination. I don't know. Did a search for "victory conditions" on the forum because I figured this had already been
Tempted to get off-topic with all these other off-topic responses, but I think I can fight it. To the OP: I'm sorry you're disappointed, but it's hard to be disappointed if you didn't have any expectations to begin with. If you had expectations, what were they? Some have mentioned that previews of the game sent mixed-signals as far as what the game would ultimately be, but I find it hard to believe any preview indicated that this was going to be a typical half-hour zerg-rush
If you don't think fast is fast enough then I'm sure someone will create a mod at some point that will make it faster. Just be patient. Of course you could always endeavor to make the mod yourself.
wierd i dont even know what is wring with mine
I don't know man, but if you're also getting a dinput8.dll error in the minidump from googling around this is clearly not a Sins specific problem. Just google: dinput8.dll crash You'll see what I mean, and the symptoms are typically the same throughout every game. If you have already tried unplugging all your usb devices and replacing your keyboard and mouse with
SUCCESS!! Doing some googling we discovered that a lot of these dinput8.dll problems occurred from certain USB devices. So the last thing we tried was unplugging his current USB keyboard/mouse and plugging in another one. That did the trick. It now loads up.

My friend did not have the beta installed. He just got the game today.
It's in the user.setting file. Afrak is completely unable to get into the game so he can't use the in game video settings toggle.
Got around the access denied thing by going to that thread via the sticky. For some reason when I click on that link in this thread it says access denied. The URLs appear the same. Tried the suggestions such as turning off intro movies, and turning off multisamples, fiddling with the Windowed height and width, and uninstalled and updated his sound card driver (which is realtek), and none of that did anything. Still has this minidump which complains about dinput8.dll. Going t
Oh yes, forgot to add: When the game installed it didn't complain of any errors either in the download or installation process, so he never had to uninstall the program to clean up "junk" files.
I already had him email it to that address, thought i'd post in case this was a known problem. Anyways we tried running it in Windowed mode, but it had the same problem. I can't access your link https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/?g=editpost&aid=174432 because I get "Access Denied", so I don't know what your other suggestions would be. He has a Intel Q6600, 7300 Nvidia GT, 2 gigs ram. Anyways, if none of this helps I'm sure he can tell you more details about his system via
Me and my friend are trying to play with one another. On my computer it starts up and runs fine, on his it doesn't. Immediately on startup the game crashes to a black screen in which he has to alt+esc in order to get out of. It does provide a minidump. We updates his video drivers and made sure he had the latest version of DirectX by downloading it from the Microsoft site. But he still gets the same problem. Any ideas? Here is the minidump: AppName: sins of a solar em
