All I know is since I live in the United States, I am protected by the First-Sale Doctrine which allows me to transfer any copyrighted work in its entirety. Both Supreme Court cases involving almost this exact situation have found that EULAs are NOT binding contracts because they can only be agreed to after the purchase has been made or the software opened. I don't read EULAs because they don't mean a damn thing where I live. I guarantee
What is the name of the store you bought it from? A small, independent game store in a city of less than 100,000 people in a European country. I can't understand what you could possibly do with this information.
I believe they may be asking this because most game stores have actually stopped accepting returns/trades of PC games, and that's all down to demon-damned Sony DADC and EA (who can't even release
They are made when you save so the old version can be recovered if you have overwritten the old file with a damaged file, or realise you actually wanted the version you were working on at 10pm last night etc. So, this means that the person working on the document (say) or whatever has to pause every so often and "save"...how's that "Realtime" or how do you define "Realtime"? Will it backup *.odt documents (I use Open

That's all good, but (as you can tell by how long it took me to reply to this!) I don't read the forums much. Given that, how was I to know that the price had gone up? I didn't get an email or any other form of communicae... Also, $30 a year seems a bit rough considering what it used to be, and it being nearly half the cost of renewing Object Desktop itself - wouldn't $20 still be profitable, and a decent deal still?

Personally my only complaint is the sudden increase in price without informing current subscribers. It used to be $19.95 (or was it $29.95?) renewal for TWO years, which I forked out each time it came due. Now, it's doubled in price, or even MORE than doubled without any warning? Naff that. A bit of common courtesy goes a long way guys.
None of the money goes to Valve from games sold over Steam, unless of course they are Valve games.
Actually, some of the money DOES go to Valve for games sold over the Steam Digital Store. However, Valve does claim you don't have to pay for the use of SteamWorks technologies (and Steam DISTRIBUTION, which isn't the same as sales!) (My reasoning that money changes hands for games sold over Steam is due to an article from 2005, and Valve's usage of the word "free"

Didn't you guys say that Twilight would be the last expansion for GC2, and now we're meant to pony up for a THIRD expansion? In August no less (come on, at least give us six months!)? Then again, I don't see Stardock's name anywhere in the press release - are you guys even aware that apparently you're releasing "Galactic Civilisations II: Endless Universe" in August? The battle for galactic supremacy continues in En

Sooo, I've been trying to get ThinkSync to actually work on my Vista machines. First up, it's not very UAC friendly (it would appear to save shares, but it actually wouldn't - the attempt to save shares.ini was punted to VirtualStore). Second, you can't create sync jobs. Period. Any attempt to do so results in the UI yelling that "You must enter a valid target location share to continue" (even though I DID enter one). It then saves the job to the thinksync.ini file

Aaaand, I just noticed that the retail disc doesn't install Impulse - regardless of what the manual says. Heck, it doesn't even install (or try to install) SDC. Um, it doesn't even add shortcuts anywhere to the game. Meh, I guess I'll just install it manually. Maybe you guys should pass along to whoever makes the SoaSE disc that if the manual says it installs Impulse, it really should do so.
I had to come here to get the Impulse...and I only found this by chance. well at least I have it now...maybe Stardock needs to post the link to the Impulse like Zubaz did, some place - so others, in case they have the same problem like I did...so they can find it to
Actually, you need only install the retail edition of Sins of a Solar Empire. It up and installs Impulse on you (like it or not). Actually, I'm a bit concerned - if Impulse is beta, why is it install

Oh I wouldn't worry. I've had issues with this very same person before, in a completely different forum. Ironically in my case it was FREE software and he was complaining it didn't work right-out-of-the-MSI (which is funny, because he just said that if it were free software he'd expect bugs).

Interesting note, the current build of SDC is build 163. Yet the history.txt (accessed by going to Help > History in SDC) has an entry for build 164 which reads "Added manifest to make sure SDC requests admin rights when running with UAC on Vista" and "Fix for an upgrade issue with x64 Vista". The interesting part is that the major version (2.51.512) matches the current build 163 which we're using, not the build 164 that... well, we're not. Are we using the version with the manifest a

Back in the old days (the last SDC release) Stardock Central would demand elevation and wouldn't run without it. Now, it runs without asking for elevation, which makes it pretty pointless since it no longer is able to update or anything. Could we get a [link="http://blogs.msdn.com/nikhiln/archive/2007/04/19/embed-a-manifest-to-make-an-application-elevate-in-vista.aspx"]manifest[/link] deployed with the next release to get it to run elevated again?

Beats me, I assume it's just interference with my wireless network. Which is why I didn't raise any issue with the protocol error itself. I'm just happy that I no longer get bombarded with protocol errors just because my cellphone uses 2.4GHz (well, the error still happens but it no longer tells me about it).

I would like to express my deepest thanks for the best feature in the new Multiplicity versions: "Do not inform me when connections are made and lost" It is beyond awesome that no longer will I have to read, day in and day out, "Multiplicity has disconnected due to a protocol error". So again, THANK YOU!
In reality, this is rubbish, at least in the international context. Take Stardock to a German court (I'm German)? Even if the German court accepted my request (which is not certain), Stardock would simply ignore the court. If I were the European Community, it would be different, of course (as Microsoft found out recently). But I'm not. I disagree that Arceans have trouble on Large maps. I'm currently playing a Gigantic map (as Arcean) and I control over 80% of the map, and have completed all research. No really, ALL research. I've even been at war with the Drengin for about ... um ... since two days ago (real time). The Drengin and Terrans are close (but not allied) and occupy collectively about 10% of the map, because they can't get near the rest. My ships knock any Drengin or Terran ships into the last Age if they attem
