I agree with Fuzzy. The site needs an ass kick design wise. As for functionality, take a look at Renderosity and you will see a lot that this site lacks. Uploading has always been a chore here. I have to use the old link to upload on as the link on the main page has never worked. Uploading takes far too long and the process too complex. It would make more sense to put it all on one page. Moderation needs speeding up. This site is one of the slowest for getting your images to appear. Most other s

I run XP and have never had a problem like you describe. It is an interesting one. Got me baffled. I have run all versions of windowblinds right back beyond 4.6 on this computer and right up to version six without a ripple of a problem. I have always used Zone Alarm for a firewall and anti virus. My only hunch is that maybe NOD 32 is conflicting with it. Download a free version of another Anti virus and firewall and see if it makes a difference. I do know that some MS Updates have interfered with

DA is a commercial site. It just isn't too vocal about it. The print section generates a lot of money as does the mobile phone images. It has been an issue ever since Angelo pirated the site from Jark et al. At one point if you uploaded a wallpaper it automatically was duplicated in the mobile phone image section and sold without knowledge of the author and the author recieved no royalties. It was stopped and made a visible choice upon uploading thereafter. Since Angelo took over there have been

50 million submissions does not detract from the fact that a lot are just plain rubbish and junk. It does not detract from the fact that Angelo and co trashed its good reputation when they backstabbed Jark. Nor does it hide the fact that it is jammed full of petty little ego squabbles, rippers and people of questionable sanity. Some of the self harming images they allow are exremely disturbing and it makes me wonder about the mentality of those needing to create such images, let alone download the

In addition....and this should interest the staff here.....wallpapers cannot be anymore than 510kb in size. This enables server space to be optimzed and upload and download speeds are faster. JPEG format. Right click and save to download after zooming image. You can run your own personal store with zip files of images in different formats if you wish and people have the option of a quick download or a long one. Nothing like choices and intelligent use of resources. :CONGRAT:

I agree with you about better art elsewhere. Though for me the better art can be found at Renderosity.com. DeviantArt pales into insignificance alongside the talent and variation found at Renderosity. The site is easier to navigate and quicker to load than DeviantArt. They did a flawless transition in a few hours. No bugs. Any transition of versions DA has ever made is always accompanied by bugs that are still being worked on when they switch to the latest version. Renderosity for efficiency is

Zubaz.....you are welcome to your opinion. You are free to state I do not know what I am talking about. But at least do so knowing you know nothing of my experience base with computers. Do so knowing that much of what we were told XP could not do in comparison to Vista has been achieved by intelligent geeks all over the world using XP and creating apps that do what Vista does. I did not make the statement to get into an argument nor to recieve an arrogant reply. I also do not mind what OS anyone

I do have to agree with the author of this thread. Bill gates told us XP was not capable of Vista glass effect. XP is and does give a comparable effect. I have just completed an exercise where I put Vista transformation pack 8 on and True transparency, Winflip and Deskspace. You can more or less say it is Vista running through XP and I did not have to buy a new computer to get it either so having had and used Vista I can say without doubt that Vista could have been made as an add on for XP. And

I generally gravitate between here and Renderosity.com. The two sites combined make for what I believe is the ultimate in quality art and skins. I gave up on DevArt when Scott was backstabbed and gave up on Skinbase with its hypocritical and inconsistent copyright enforcement, its negativity toward growth and its dictatorial attitude to member input. Lying did not help their position either. The sad part is that from my viewpoint Skinbase had an opportunity to really grow and all it is doing is

It may be history repeating itself....that does not invalidate or negate the criticism it is fielding. Nor does it make it childish. What is childish is percieving any or all criticism as a threat. If we look at criticism and see whether the critic has a point then it can be a great tool for improvement or growth. I had ME as my first OS and never once had a problem with it.....there are always exceptions to the rule. I have a valid copy of Vista and removed it. XP allows me to use any app witho

Do as you please in life as long as you do no harm to yourself and/or others......At this stage of my life I have learnt that three things happen. The first is that your memory becomes unreliable......and the other two are........I can't remember! :SURPRISED: :CONGRAT:

The best advice on learning I can give is to let yourself go and just play with them and have fun. The more you play the more you learn. Do not be scared of them.....give them stink and take no prisoners....lol :CONGRAT:

Terragen and Genesis are in my opinion the oldest yet easiest landscape and topographical apps on the market. Straight forward and fairly simple to get the hang of. There are freeware versions of both. Most of the landscapes you see in my images have been done in Terragen :D :CONGRAT:

When it gets to Zero...the following occurs. A voice comes in and says..."The trial period is at an end. Your mission should you choose to accept it, is to purchase this product. If you are unable then Stardock will disawow all knowledge of your existence. This computer will self destruct in ten seconds!".....When you see smoke coming from your hard drive....back up slowly toward your door making no sudden moves.....once outside door, close it quietly and gently and never.....I repeat.....never

The infraction was Saddam was not allowing unconditional inspections, Saddam was hindering inspections and arguing the point as he had done for twelve years, Saddam was producing weapons that were a direct violation to his agreements and was seeking to acquire weaponry from oversees from Russia, China and France and Germany. Weaponry found after the invasion proves that those countries mentioned were assisting Saddam to violate resolutions. Enough paperwork has been found since for us to form th

I am extremely amused. Many are putting up other countries that the US should have intervened or the Coalition should have intervened. Hit Rewind! Everyone was bleating about Kurds and Shia being gassed and murdered in Iraq. Everyone was bleating about Saddam not complying with the Sixteen resolutions he was in defiance of for twelve years. Intervention was made. Saddam was knocked off his perch. And the great human knocking machine started. Civilians need to get some points through their concre

The war was legitimate based on Saddams breaking of the ceasefire agreement which is why the UN backed off taking it to an International court. Because Saddam failed to comply unconditionally to his agreement made at the ceasefire at the end of Gulf War one. Hostilities resumed. It is nothing like Vietnam! All are volunteers. The only similarity is once again civilian protests are restricting troop numbers reaching required levels to effectively police the country and therefore are doing much to

Something many here are forgetting is the fact that around the time of the invasion Islamic extremism began to rise and has blossomed since. The intent of these people is to spread Islam throughout the World. It is their view that either we convert to Islam or die as infidels. There is no negotiation with them on this point. Already they have destabilized Afghanistan, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Many African states and are now lining up India. Europe has become a battleground with frequent bom

I can tell I am going to be unpopular here. Fact one...you have had your vision and minds blurred. In the week leading up to the invasion Hans Blix ,himself, uncovered a long range missile producing facility complete with an engine testing section that was still in full production. These missiles were WMD. They breached the agreement and they argued the point when told to destroy them. The range made Israel easily within their capability. Engines being tested would have given these weapons a gre

You are most welcome to hold whatever opinions you like. Others are not obliged to agree.Given I do not have a minge you are most welcome to singe it. I have a copy of Vista Ultimate. I run a signwriting business. Vista is a liability currently therefore I will not use it until I can use ALL my current necessary software on it. That is a sound business decision based on Vista's failure to be capable of running the software XP has no difficulty with. I do not have time to run around getting infor
