When looking at the UI for the planet, the difference between arid and usable land can be difficult to discern. Can you have the contents of the hex be grayed or yellowed out to signify the inability to build?

When selecting an ideology, we should be able to double click an item to unlock it. A second double click should unselect what we just selected, in case we change our minds. Instead of Done, can you do a button that is OK when viewing, and Confirm when selecting? Also there is no distinction between the UI when you are able to spend ideology points, vs when you cannot in what is available. Perhaps only show the items as open when you have points available to spend
I've been playing Dark Avatar on Painful (8 races, medium, normal tech, common everything) and I've noticed something odd about the AI. They have a tendency (especially on special planet atmospheres) to build power plants before they build factories. Even if they would get more industrial from a factory, they still build power plants.
When trading techs, both in crippling and masochistic, there's an issue with values. Example: AI player has Harpoon and Harpoon II. I try to trade for Harpoon. It's veeery expensive (i.e. harpoon's value is high). If I include Harpoon II, instead of having to trade 15 techs, I now can trade two cheap techs or simply a couple hundred bc. I'm guessing when adding a second weapon tech of the same category/type/tree, it's munging the value.
In 1.11 I'm attacking the Drengin with an Iconian culture starbase near one of their planets, and I've got a few transports waiting in the wings to swoop down on the Drengin planets. The Iconians just declared war on me stating that I had transports circling their worlds. EDIT -- Difficulty was set at crippling and 9 opponents
Ah more gooder indeed! You know, with the speediness of these updates, what's a guy to do, who only has a few hours a week to play? I keep having to start over due to all the new goodies
Any word on whether this bug got fixed? https://forums.galciv2.com/index.aspx?ForumID=162&AID=102974
When entering the nickname/password combo in the in game Metaverse login, hitting the tab key should shift the cursor to the password text field.
I'm having an issue with minor races with the latest patch, in that whenever I start creating transports and have them in my space (usally across the entire galaxy), they will immediately declare war, stating that I have military units parked around their system. I'm playing in a medium galaxy, at Genius level intelligence for all races, and my transports are parked near my homeworld. The minor races (this has happened twice now) are at the opposite side of the galaxy in other civ's sphere of
While the public bug tracking system is a great idea, very few public bug tracking systems, IMO are actually worth a damn. The only one I've found with all the features I want is FogBugz. If you're looking to go down that road, I would highly recommend taking a look at that product.
OK, I've actually had to go through some of this due to my new upgrade. First off, go to the first link and download/install the appropriate AMD driver for your PC (depends on OS, they have many, just make sure to get the 32 bit if XP standard, 64 if XP_64, etc.). Next, if you have CnQ enabled, and you don't have a good reason to have it on, TURN IT OFF! It causes all sorts of fun, and not just with multi-threading. Unfortunately I haven't found a good tool to check for CnQ within
I just got GC2 and I had a question on diplomacy. Originally in beta the minor races used major race AI. That mean that they would expand and do diplomacy much like a major race. When I went to attack one, the Altarians immediately declared war on me as if they were allies. Are minor races able to ally with majors? If so where/how can we see this in a UI. If minor races are going to play that major of a role, why can't we do espianage, etc. on them?
I noticed while playing beta, that recession would show up most of the time that an event would take place. I think I played through 30 games and only saw recession events.
I use gvim for windows (www.vim.org). Comes with windows explorer extensions and everything!
Well I'm not a full fledged DirectX/Windows dev, so by all means correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't a lot of the issue come with a non-standardization of how Windows deals with dual monitors? I know that nVidia and ATI both have their own dual monitor support in their drivers, as well as the windows support. Aside from that, different cards/drivers have different support for either 3D acceleration on only one monitor or both. Some support full 3D on any monitor, some support only 1 monitor,
Yes I'm fuming. A company that actually cares about it's customers, intelligent electronic distribution, etc. I can't believe the pure GALL of you guys that you actually have sys-admins that have some modicrum of intelligent design, and had the absolute audacity of setting up the system to not have a release crash of the servers by allowing your user base to download early. Oh yes this company is done. How can you expect to compete with all the incompetence out there? I mean cmon,
Is there any publicized version or plans for it in the future for the entire backstory? I'm sure a lot of the fans would love to read more on the races, and their history.
great! thanks for the speedy reply!
I just read the it's gold posting, and I'm running 2K on a 2.2Ghz A64 boxxen. Should I be concerned about race conditions?
One thing that might be an option for you guys is to make an optional high quality music/movie pack. Obsidian did this with KoToR II. It weighed in at about 2GB and they hosted it through nVidia's servers. I don't know what the business end details are, but assuming that it would be too much for your servers/bandwidth, hosting them somewhere else is an idea.
Wow congrats! Sounds like this is going to be an amazing release. I am curious on details about DirectX functionality on W2K as I've been fairly adament about sticking to 2K (numerous dislikes about XP, many situations I've seen it die while my steadfast 2K box survives). Is it just the tools/SDK that aren't updated, or are there actual differences in the client libraries between 2K and XP? Oh and my apologies for not being more involved in the beta, but I've been kind of slammed with my own
