Most be more positive options for human players in Diplomacy: ways to initiate an AI empire to like you other than just doing their bidding (ie- the missions...). Throwing money, metal, or crystal their way, giving some tech, sending a candygram- something so that a player can take the initiative in diplomatic relations.

Agreed- there's no point on doing the missions to curry favor with someone who will eventually attack you anyway. I like the game- I [U]want[/U] to love the game, but until something is done about diplomacy, it's silly to waste time and resources on the missions.

Diplomacy by its definition means that there is some communication going on. Well, there's communication going on here all right- all ONE WAY! There not much the human player can do in a positive way to influence his situation except the seemingly endless "run and fetch" demands of the AIs.
