Don't know if you ever figured your question out or not, but let me offer 2 suggestions; (1)go to the comments section of the areo-x desktop (where you downloaded the desktop) the author painstakenly explained almost all of the ways you can modify his desktop; (2) clone the object you want to modify. To do this, just right click on the item you want to change (or duplicate) and hit "clone." This will put an exact duplicate of what you clicked on top of
