You can download the XSI Mod Tool version for free, it has everything you need to create new ships. For importing Sins ships, I think the only way is to use 3ds Max with Stannum's script: [link="https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/?forumid=443&aid=176051"]SOASE 3dsmax importer and exporter tool[/link]
StealthCat
You need to run it from the command prompt. Give it the filename of the .xsi file to convert and the name of the .mesh file to create.
Here you go Major: The XSI converter expects the textures to be linked up to 3 specific channels of the Phong's illumination section. The color texture goes to diffuse, data texture to specular and the normal map to ambient.
Derbal, you should look into make it an area of effect weapon. I'm pretty sure that's possible, since there are other AoE abilities. That would make it behave more like an Interdictor and you'd also have to consider some strategy as it would affect your ships too.
Np. :) Actually, you can't start null names with a number, so I actually have mine named p000-Exhaust, etc. Just remember the first 5 characters get chopped off.
I found a post by Tristan saying "There needs to be a hirarchy for your nulls, as well as a naming convention. I'll put that up in a few days". I don't think he's posted anything yet though. I looked at ConvertXSI.exe in a hex editor and found some strings that provide clues, so here's a rough way to do it: 1) Create a null called "rootpoint". 2) Create more nulls, one for each attachment point. These should be children of the rootpoint (click the Explorer icon at the top
I don't think there's an importer for XSI. There's one for 3ds max though if you search for the thread on it.
When you apply scales and other operations they get put on a stack. Before exporting you need to freeze the transforms. Presuming you're using the mod tool: Left click the "Transform" header on the right and select "Freeze All Transforms". That'll freeze any scaling/rotation/etc. You'll notice the numbers in the transform box become 1s, since the scale operation has been applied to the model's vertices now. Click on the "Modeling" and "Object" buttons under the "Freeze Hist
Cool to see this exporter. :) Is there any progress on adding multitexturing?
You shouldn't be able to quit to avoid a loss on your record. People will obviously just quit everytime. Quits/disconnects should either count as a loss, or add another stat showing number of disconnects.
Load up Stardock Central and do Tools->Lookup Serial Number.
Hey folks, I'm happy to report that the excessive frame-rate dive specifically caused by the chat messages (which seems to be the worst for most people) will be fixed in the next patch.
Hey Psugar, would that also happen to fix the mass slowdown some people are experiencing on the research screen? There's a thread about that here: https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/?forumid=408&aid=175396
It'd be great if the distance before things turned into icons were configurable in an .ini file or something. I'd like to see the 3D fighting from further out too. Also, there are people with lower spec machines who'd like it stay as icons for longer, e.g. https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/?forumid=408&aid=178064 What'd you say Ironclad? Replace a constant with an ini variable? :)
I hear the AI doesn't care much about Repair Platforms either, which makes the fights incredibly easy.

Ah, I see, thanks for the explanation. I guess the computer must've mirrored my research and buildings because I couldn't manage to push the allegiance down to zero.
Hey, could someone explain to me what culture actually does in the game? I played a game against the computer where I spent all my money on Harmony research and the media centres, but it didn't do anything. I ended up with some green lines on the map, but nothing really happened? Can you influence a planet with your culture so much that they change sides and join you? Or does the culture affect their productivity in some way?
