Here is another idea. Why dont you make the planets actually revolve around the current star? When certain planets are in range of each other, you would have a certain amount of time to get your ships through the phase lane before it closes again. If you didnt make it through, you would just have to wait for the next revolution. EDIT: Although, I dont think the current game engine could be modded to that extent. Sins 2 anyone?

I love the FreeSpace series... was looking into making a mod for it myself....
We have LAN parties here at the office
hmm... I think Im in the wrong industry :NOTSURE:
hmm... GREAT! now would be a good time to invest what little pennies we have in SD and IC stocks before gold! :D I have a feeling that this game is going to be well known among the gaming community in the near future.
Have you looked at the .stats files?
nope.. dont even have the game yet (:( (no money til Feb) .. so I didnt know that there were .stats files. Sorry. Ive been collecting .replay files over the web since I have no Sins. So in addition to the .replay file, a .stats file is generated for each game as well? Could you or someone upload one somewhere so I can take a look at it? Thanks. :D
Edit: or the beginning of the file would work too. :)
Robert "Apache" Howarth replied to george1976's post Jan 13 2008, 12:36 PM 8 people did that i can tell
Theres the proof that he could have indeed filtered out the bad votes. Oh well. Although I am pleased to see that Sins is climbing again.
This is more of a question to the developers I suppose. Could you add some end-game statistics (like: map size, who played, overall scores, etc..) to the end of the .REPLAY file? I can already tell who played, how many AI played, what map, what map size, and chat messages because these are all readable. Albeit, its a reg. expression nightmare :NOTSURE: If not, I understand due to lack of time before the game goes gold but it would be nice for a 3rd party app that I'm thinking about doing.
Done :CONGRAT:
yeah, but he is only worth $9.99!! if you ask me i think its still a little steep :p
You can't beat my Commodore64 with an 8-bit CPU and a whoppin 64Kb of RAM!!! Ahh yes, you can't beat the classics! Its amazing how far we have come in only 2-3 decades. In about a decade or three, youll probably laugh at your 4GB machines because you will be carrying 64PB (Petabytes) of ram. Your cpu will have quantum physics built into it that is almost exponentially faster than today's supercomputers! Just imagine the possibilities of Sins 5! :D
Is starcraft 2 even going to come out in 2008? probably not. Plus, it seems as though its not that original of a game. Just Starcraft 1 plus upgraded graphics and a few other bells and whistles. +1 for Sins for originality. :CONGRAT:
Cosumer debt is now at 2.3 trillion dollars.
Thats because people are buying things that they can't pay for and, unfortunatly, it has become a way of life for many families. You can't spend more than you make without consequence! When will people start to realize that? Sorry, touchy subject for me because I hate debt. I just dont see why people would go into debt for a plasma TV or anything like that. Heres an idea: "Why not save the money for it
digital is the future ...get on the train
Unfortunatly, not everybody has 'high-speed' available to them.
I have DSL and it works fine...... .....as long as you don't mind the "automatic pause button" and the hate letters you get.
Satellite DSL or regular land line DSL? theres a big difference. I expect hate letters anyways. Most of them probably telling me to stop the ownage! :HOT:
Its good to know that im not permanently stuck on just singleplayer based games! How big of a file is the Beta?
Ok.. so no hope for satellite :NOTSURE: .. still, it would be pretty neat if they implemented some sort of lag AI. That is, when a person seems to be lagging, AI would take over until the player could regain a good ping rate. Although that would require a single server instead of P2P. Are sins multiplayer games centered around a single hosted server? Maybe its not too late! Maybe one of the devs will see this and consider lag AI! haha.. or not. Its probably too late in the BETA process
Well first off, I have been looking at screenshots. viewing videos, and following some of the reviews for this game since the beggining of this week and I must say this game looks to be what I have been looking for in a 4x or even a RTS Game. Here is one of my questions: How much will high ping rate players affect other players in this game? Does it pause the game for everybody for a few seconds or does it only slow down the "slow" players progress? The reason why I as
