Fully filled tactical slots can make a world of difference, in the very least giving you enough time to get a fleet to the planet. Also, you can move your fighters to where they should come out of the phase lane at to at least annoy them. The fighters can keep up with whatever ship tries to make a run through the system, and should do some damage before they jump out.

Do the advent hangars start off with one or two fighter wings? It seems like if it starts off with only one and has the two upgrades, It'd be nicer if it was two with the main technology and then one upgrade to three. I don't know why, but I feel kind of cheated if it's just the one per hangar starting, like I'm buying one point of tech that others get for free. Also, when are we going to get the horribly unbalanced boarding parties? Woo.

I noticed an issue with the pirates. If you defeat an enemy in a locked teams game, and they still have extra bounty on them, the bounty doesn't disappear. If nobody puts bounty on other players, the pirates don't seem to leave their system. Also, more pie.

It just seems weird in general. Some of the demands just don't make sense. "Hey, um... I know you've just taken out my fleet and all, but I was wondering if you'd give me 200 metal? I'll like you more..." Now, I know it's a step up from a regular rts where now you can kind of influence who the other players attack (think warcraft all vs all, attack indiscriminately), but it's a big step down from what we're accustomed to for the big strategy games (bribes, tribute, technology sharing

I think it's a good way to go with the siege frigates. It does seem to be an ai strategy that is overwhelming at the beginning of the game and made me want to pull my hair out. I honestly have no clue how the ai can field so many in such short a time and still have a fleet in defense (12 logistic + ~500 credits +~70 of the other two resources). I don't think the ai can handle the long haul doing that. If anything, the decrease should give the tactical buildings (hangars and guns) a be

The smaller raids aren't so bad, any cap can take them on and come out better in the end. I did get a bit overzealous and put a bunch of bounty on my main competitor in a 5v5 locked game. They pretty much wiped out my enemy, but then wouldn't go home so I could come in and claim territory. The economic path is indeed a harsh one...

What about having to set up the orbital bombardment platforms? I mean, if the siegers could only set up a platform like the Vasari capital ship does, and these platforms were weak, it would require them to either protect them or to clear the area before bombing. It would basically just turn them into siege engineers of sorts.

I can definitely see where people are coming from who don't like the pirates. It would be nice to have a button to turn them off when making a random map. I know you can go into the map editor and make a game that doesn't have them, but some people just want to sit down, click on random map, and get right into the game. If you don't know you can make your own or are inexperienced in making them (I haven't tried to mapmaker so I personally don't know how complex it is), and have had bad r

My current game, which I'm fearful to load back up, currently has three of my planets under siege by different forces. I was doing well with one fleet guard and one fleet attack, but I can't have three guard and three attack (at least not with my current skills with this game). I personally can't figure out a way to stop the siegers from getting to whatever planet they want to, but it is only day two. The siege strategy works really well against the computer, just build 12 of them and

I have been able to hold a planet for a long time with seven hangars and one shield. I got the bum rush of twenty+ sieges which was way too much for even that to handle before the planet was wiped clean. Good news is that even though they wiped out the planet, my fighters kept on attacking :) If you try to attack them a system ahead of your own, they simply rush right past the fleet. The warp dampener things can only be built at your controlled planet, so they can't be used to stop t

I agree with the pirates addition. Too many times have I paid off the priates an exhorbitant amount of money just to have, right before the deadline, one of the ai's add just a wee bit.

I'm very confused by the diplomacy situation. I'm currently playing an 8 team game against the computer, and twice now I've had four+ enemies allied (I guess, they pass up each other's planets to get to mine), and the only diplomacy that works is the missions, which become kind of useless when the person they want you to hit is across the galaxy. Are gifts supposed to raise the loyalty meter when there isn't a mission for the gift? Am I missing something in the diplomacy?
